E30 BMW's - need some dimensions please
Can someone please do me a HUGE favour and attempt to find out the following dimensions please on a 2 door E30 bmw (3 series) :top:
Wheel base rear wheel track front wheel track engine bay length (from bulkhead to slam panel) engine bay width (from turret top to turret top) distance between the front chassis legs engine bay height cheers people - a beer for the first person to produce some accurate measurements :top: :top: :top: :top: |
What are you planing??
|
a winter project - that might involve the transplatation of the entire contents of my taxi
used to have an E30 325i sport, and i so regret selling that car, that i'm looking for something that has the driveability and the balance of the E30, but with the power and road holding of a 4x4 saff - you do the maths  |
length 170.3 in
width 64.8 in stock height 54.3 in wheelbase 101.2 in ground clearance without extra weight 4.8 in front track 55.4 in rear track 55.7 in that enough info. i'll be waiting for my beer |
the engine fits fine as I've already done an e30 cossie :blabla:
|
the engine i'm sure will fit as them 6 bangers in the e30's are lengthy
its the width between the chassis legs that i'm looking at - as i wish to use the entire 4x4 drivetrain including front cross member, also the 4x4 gearbox too - should be interesting  where do i send the beer? :top: |

A fully laden 4x4 cossie engine with gearbox is around the same weight as a fully laden 325i sport engine and box give or take a couple of kilo
only problem is now finding a nice late shell (G or H plate) that hasn't been eaten by tinworm :wall: Also, the project will be hopefully starting at the end of december or early janruary - that gives me time to enjoy the cossie still in its current form  |
also, RWD in the 325i sport was bad and nearly undriveable in the wet - properly sliding all over, it definately needs 4wd to keep it in a straight line
however, when they break free and start to slide, they are sooooooooooooo controlable its untold    |
Nice one, I still would keep it RWD for the crazy factor, but still a cossie 4x4 E30 will be the nutz
|
its all pie in the sky at the moment and would be a damnd shame to break my car as the shell is absolutely mint. - weighing up the variables for it all first and then i'll press on with the project - either buy sourcing parts or using ones i have already
