Default Technical Question for 4 X 4 Buffs.

Trying to fathom out a possible problem on a 4 x 4 Sapphire Cossie.

When driving round a sweeping left hand bend, get a mechanical knocking noise from the front drivers side suspension/transmission. Knocks regardless of Power On..... Or just coasting around the corner.... At speed...???

Changed the outer CV Joint, but still have same problem.

Put car up on four axle stands, engine running in second gear, turn stearing left and right, ...... No Noises.

Should all four wheels spin, when car in gear, engine running and up off the ground..?? Near side front wheel hardly turning in comparison to the other three.......????? And can be stopped easily by putting resistance against it....(Foot with big boot !!!)

Sorry, not a 4 x 4 buff

its an open diff in the front, so this is the reason one wheel isnt going as fast

Likely to be the exhaust down pipe knocking on the short prop......If so, adjust the down piee to clear.

looks like the (BOGUS 5 door!) pulsar driver has a stutter too? (No plate)

Jim Green, mine had a similar Knocking noise round left handers
I thought that was CV/ balljoint or something..

turns out it was the front prop UJ gone!
have a wiggle of that lol If its gone bad then it could well be that knocking
against the exhaust as Doug has said!

Definately not Zorst hitting Front Prop...... Outer CV Replaced, Inner CV appearst good.......

Front Prop UJ's ''seem'' ok..A little play but nothing serious....Confused

Surely the front prop UJ's would knock regardless of which direction you were in..... This only happens on left hand bends, taken at speed....... If you go around a left hand bend slowly....Then it don't happen. Just when your travelling hard around a left hand bend, regardless of wether you are powering around the bend, or just cruising (But Fast).

Back to you lot ......
