Thanks Jim, I just checked the standard rims I have on mine and have seen that too.. I wonder if 30 is an escort offset..

Standard wheels on 2wd saffs are et35 4wd et40
The MO's should be ok on the rear but dependant on what size they are and what size tyres you intend using they will be a bit touch and go on the front!

Sorry Spadge, Have to disagree there..... Had my sapphire since it was just over a year old, and still have the original wheels in the garage. Just checked them.....All marked ET40 on one of the spokes, and she's definately 2wd....

I've got ET30s on the front of mine with flared arches, so on standard ones, it'll be close!

SPADGE : We all learn something every day Spadge, Even me, but it's definately ET40 on a 2wd Sapphire.

Yet another beer you owe me.....

LAMBCHOPS : Go for Falken 225/35/17 from Pro Tyres at Fareham. You can always try one of my wheels to make sure you have the clearence first....

Great tyre in the dry

Chopper,

you'll deffo need the arches rolled. If you can borrow a wheel from a mate with the same offset it's worth trying. Max tyre size I would go for on the front is 215/40. That's with roughly standard ride hight.

Ade.

Had 215/35/18's on my old taxi for a while with ET35's all round
Was also running coilovers and had no probs at all! The extra 5mm yours stick out (assuming they are 8j?) may make a difference dependant on how low you want to run it.

DOO : You are indeed correct. Both Sapphires (2wd and 4 x 4) are the same off-set. (ET40)

Can we just clarify what the normal offset is Would it be 40 by any chance
Anyway the standard offset is of no relevance when you are putting wider wheels than the original 7j ones on! The et40 was obviously chosen to give the correct clearance on both sides of the wheel for the 7j rim and 205 tyre. Try using a 40 with 8j 18's and 215's or wider and i promise you they won't fit without fouling the front suspension and looking stupid

Thanks for the pics chaps it does help, I got the wheels from Mike, Dangerous - Reyland and he had them on his track saff. Like a fool I forgot to confirm the offset before buying them as a just presumed..

Doo I have spent a fair amount of time studying that pic of yours already couldn’t quite make out the 35 though

But the Off Set can also drasticaly affect the way the car drives....... Tram Lines like hell on anything than a perfect road surface if you get it wrong. Just like mine

Jim it will tramline on 18's regardless of offset!
Your Taxi is probably just used to pulling over to the kerb all the time to pick-up fares

Yes me too Jim... I think its one of these things I need to try. Every time I see some pics of a nice 3door I want one.. Don’t want to spend anymore money on the saff if im going to sell it. Hopefully that makes sense..

I see! good decision although i do like your saff and remember it from a Herts meet a couple of years ago when Pons bro owned it
Better off with the 3 door though mate as they are much more astheticaly(sp) pleasing with much more prescence

Thanks Spadge, never driven a 3door but just love the looks and the pedigree. shame your black ones gone as that would have been ideal.

I've owned 12 mate at the last count
Yeah the black one was ok but a mate of mine has a nice white one for sale at the moment which i would suggest you see if you get a buyer on the saff
