Thing is as much as it'd be a sure way to get prices reduced if everyone in the country stopped buying fuel for a week....it won't happen.
The fact is everyone with a job dependant on going somewhere in a vehicle (so most people) would lose out if they couldn't work for a period of time.
So seemingly the only way to do anything is to just moan about it endlessly as there doesn't seem to be much else you can do singley to make a difference.
I've decided to only buy fuel from Tesco, as to be honest it's the closest cheapest place I can find for it.....but the difference that makes in the scheme of things is fuck all....

Glad the Laguna does tonnes of miles to the gallon then!
Its a piss take, out of the price per litre 3/4 goes to the government in tax
Taken from Pistonheads ""For example, if the pump price was 80.9 pence (average price last year) per litre:
* 16.3 pence represents the cost of the product,
* 5.3 pence goes to the oil company/retailer to cover costs of supply, filling
station operation and profit
* 59.3 pence goes to the Government in duty and tax.
Fuel excise duty is charged at the fixed rate of 47.1 pence per litre on unleaded and diesel, and on top of this - VAT is charged at 17.5 per cent. So, at last year’s prices, the duty and tax element made up three quarters of the pump price."

Being farmers this has hit use so hard, we run tractors on red diesel so no fuel duty, but proportionaly it has gone up so much, also fertiliser has gone up, this will cost us thousands

15K+ Super Poster!!
Fuck it may join them on the picket line
As the price of petrol goes up then the amount of VAT earned on the liter goes up to.
Why not cut the duty on fuel so that they sill earn the same amount on the tax but makes it easier on us??
I mean they will not be able to bare the whole cost of the rise, we will still have to pay for some of it, but at least the goverment isn't profiting from the situation

(The group says all UK refineries will be blocked from 0600 BST on 14 September unless price cuts are made.
The Treasury said cutting tax would not solve the problem of high oil prices.)
LOL
I THINK THE DAM TREASURY ARE 1 THICK BUNCH OF TW*TS IF TAX IS 50%, CAN'T THEY ADD UP.

Yes dictated by the oil companies, but then tax is added on top, i would'nt mind paying road tax and things like this if it was fair it's somthing like less than 10% of road tax goes on the road so basically put the goverment is RIPPING you off you would'nt buy a £10 item and pay VAT for half the items in the shop on top of the £10 would you. and its not like are roads don't need it they're shit.
