Escort RST LSD in a FRST Gearbox. Possible?
I was thinking of trying to put the LSD out of a ERST into the gearbox of a FRST, can this be done. If your wondering it's for the lower gearing and no torque steer.

This is going to be a little track day beater so I'm not going to put in a lot of money. I leave that for my Esccos. BTW is it rebuildable (ERST LSD)

Yes, it will fit.
The final drive will alter your gearing though not the diff itself...Make sure what your fitting is actually what your after, speak to Bernie at CTS to double check and get him to "pump it up" as it were, for even better results...

Well if it'll fit I can stick the crown gear on the LSD and keep the gearing all the same. I work with a guy that bead blast and cryo's parts for plane so were going to do that to the internals for a little more strength.

yeah course it will fit but i was saying i dont see it doing what your asking
its a bit like me saying my oil filler cap keeps flying off and will a cossie breather fit the engine
the answer is YES IT WILL but the correct answer should be it will fit but its prob not gonna solve it as thats usually a sign of a shagged engine
also personally i woid want a higer ratio box as fwd cars are a coont for traction ect
good luck in ya choice and sorry i was no use by trying to help
see to me spiky that was actually helping him as a erst lsd wont not make it torque steer as all erst's torque steer as the driveshaft length is the cause for this

Yes - but having driven my FRST without LSD as standard I can tell you that any LSD is better than none!
Exiting corners spinning the inside wheel up may be fun but it's not the quickest way around the track is it! Torque steer is added by having more traction with both the driven wheels - the cheaper answer to this is grow stronger forearms and hold the steering wheel with both hands around fast bends!

I disagree, ANY lsd is a majour diffrence over no lsd!
an rst diff wont combat torque steer, but it will help traction.
The std diff can even be used to your advantage and pull you through and out some bends!

i own both erst and a mint frst and drive both everyday and the escort gearing and lsd is for supurior..sorry cant spell it..
as far as im concerned the frst gearing is all wrong, for to high, and the braking on the frst is absolute shit,
so i think puttin the escort box and lsd wud be a brilliant thing also havin no abs on the fiesta is another bad thing as it doesent stop in a straight line my erst feels safe at speed but the frst feels like a go-kart and scary
i just think ford did a bad job on the frst ..
andzz

granted, allot prob wont be working as they should, but the ersts ive been in that have been working i thought worked well!
they 'help' traction, and as you'll know an erst will break traction easily! and it will do it easier with no lsd, so therefore even a std lsd is of benefit better than not having one and if the boy gets a full working one then it will definately be worth doing!
