Removing Ivy marks from brickwork?

Removing Ivy marks from brickwork?
I have stripped off a load of ivy from my house,and it has left its little tentacle things stuck to the brickwork,how do I remove it as scraping it off will take about 5 years 
Is there some sort of acid that will eat plant matter that I could use?

I cut it off at the roots and sprayed loads of deep root weed killer on it,it died quite quickly,then I scraped it off with a big stone chisel and now I am pressure washing off the little tentacle bastards 
,if your whole wall is covered I dont envy the task ,I only had a few meters square and it is knackering
least it's well hot here
