my car point blank refuses to.
itl start up tick over for 5 - 10 secs. cough splutter and die. fookin typical. 2 days before knockhill.
the idle air control valve is disconnected and the idle screw is nearly right in. worked fine like this for months.
any ideas folks???????????

When you start a car the first few seconds is very rich due to the after start fuel enrichment.
If your ecu does not fuel correctly (faulty sensor etc) the afterstart enrichment might be allowing it to run.

the car was put on the rollers at AVA when it was first running (mar 04) just to check fueling etc. obviously couldnt run it up much as it had basically no miles on it. they said then that it was safe to use after they checked it. so it has been set up to a certain degree. in approx 10-12 weeks i hope to have it mapped and complete at msd. cheers for the concern. i think i have done well considering i'm a formwork joiner to trade.
