To all of the people who struggle day to day just to pay rent.
People used to wonder how I could afford a cossie at Uni, but I had to work hard to keep it.
If you've got shitloads of cash, that's fine, but there's no need to purposely flaunt it in front of those who haven't... and believe me - those at Uni are the other end of the scale!

No, but you're not going to go to the other end of the scale to purposely shove it down people's throats.
If you've got enough money to afford a 360 day to day, then you've certainly got enough to afford a proper everyday car.
Still, I wouldn't have expected any less from you Phil. You probably don't get much chance to exercise your social behavioural skills from behind that keyboard

Lee,
I went to Uni with a girl who whose parents were stupid loaded. When I mean stupid loaded, we went to her house by their private helicopter
That was out of Uni time though, and she never flaunted it during. For her, the money was always a bonus. We all knew her parents were silly minted later on, but that never affected her friends, because we were all friends before we knew she had money.
You're gonna be lacking in real social graces and friends if you roll up to Uni for your first day in a Ferrari. I just find that insulting to everyone else there, but maybe I've just been brough up to respect others

i just dont see it as insulting, and as said, im not from a wealthy background and it dont bother me.
My Boss is a multi millionaire, and sometimes he comes to the site in his chopper. I just think 'hes done well to get where he has'.

It's a different example though mate.
At Uni as a specific example, there are say 8000 people attending, and probably about 7970 of them have to struggle to go and pay their way.
Your boss is different, because he has "done well" to get where he is. If my 60 year old professor turned up at Uni in his Ferrari, I'd think he was being flashy, but I wouldn't find that insulting.
In my specific example, it's more than about being ostentatious - it's beyond that.

Gareth - when this girl got picked up once at Uni in her Dad's Bentley Continental, we were all loving the car and chatting to the Dad etc etc.
She loved her cars too, and chose a Mk4 Golf to drive to Uni in. Why? She could have afforded a Ferrari easily, and she loved cars too. Why didn't she?

just finding my feet
well his old man may have worked hard for his money but that dont allow the fact he towed away my xr2 5 years ago for having no car tax
as for showing off in uni, call me stupid but what point is going uni if ya family are multi milionares
i understand education is a good thing but why a degree when lets be honest when his old man snuff it hes gonna be able to sell on a very very big and profitable scrapy in tottenham and NEVER have a single money worry
i really dont understand that, if hes not gonna get the hand outs and is proud then i understand but why train to be a barister when ya never gonna do that and ya would pay ya own legal team to advise info anyway
i seriously would not get my child a ferrari at 18 though, infact i would make them respect money alot more and not make them want for anything but i would make them respect it !!!!!
also at 18 hes gonna get alot of shit mates who just wanna know him to have a mate who owns a nice car, id rather get him a brand new peugeot 206 thats a few years old, otherwise hes gonna find a bird whos a waster aswell
just my opinion, dont forget that money at that age adds alot of stress too

This reminds me of a guy i used to know who's rich parents bought him a brand new corsa SXI for his 17th birthday. I saved up to buy my Ł300 XR3i (Ł1800 to insure) which although i loved wasn't viewed by many other people as much of a car. The problem was any time this guy was with us he used to always make jokes about our cars, question things and generally put the rest of us down which really pi55ed me off considering he hadn't worked a day in his life or paid for a thing.
Now i agree that the guys family has every right to buy him what they can afford and the guy has got every right to enjoy it (we all would if it was us). As long as he excepts that it was his families money that bought it and doesn't put less fortunate people down and tell people he's the number 1 entreprenuer in the country or anything. Its by doing things like that that would make him a twat, not the car.
Fair play to the guy. Any pics of the car? Did it come from V12 specialist cars as they had the F360 SPY plate for sale for quite some time?

I don't see that much of a problem with turning up to uni in a Ferrari, here in Bangor Uni there are a few Japanese girls with Porsches and such.
If the guy turns up to Uni in his flash car and every disslikes him then really isn't that everyone elses problem?
Why should the guy effectively have to hide his roots and background just to not be seen as a total cock?
I mean OK you could say he's rubbing peoples noses in his wealth, but only if people choose to see it like that.
Lets face it, he could use a Fiesta 364 days a year and turn up to uni on the last day in the Ferrari and lots of people would still judge him to be a cock as that's how snidey and misserable people are.
It's up to him how he lives his life, personally I couldn't be flash like that I'd hate it, but if he wants to drive his Ferrari to uni every day all the best to him.
Friend of mine has to test Aston Martins all the time and a lot people are quick to judge him and call him a lucky and a cock because they think the cars are his.

I think I'd be more worried about what any jealous people would do to my ferrari (if i had one) parked up in uni all day - never mind being worried about offending them!!!
Still, a ferrari at 18 - I have to say im jealous
