Win XP Home
I have been running a dubious copy of Win XP Pro for a while now and have decided to buy a proper licensed copy.
I've looked on Ebay for a Win XP Home edition and found this
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...155243515&rd=1
Whats wrong wit it ? It states its a Dell edition ????? will this work on mine ?
Or this but its £45 (£25 more than the one above ???)
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...154631717&rd=1
Whats the difference between the 2 ? (apaert from twenty odd quid)

just been reading some other ads for a 'Dell' Win XP Home edition and would appear that there is no COA ? what the flock does that mean ? Whereas the £45 copies of XP seem to be fine ? this is getting more and more confoooosing HELLLLP

OEM copies don't need to be registred but you cannot install them legally on any other system as the one they were originally delivered with.
So if you buy a dell OEM and think you're getting a legal copy you're getting shafted.
Better getting a copy of someone with a dell for free then,
about equally legal

Just go to a local computer shop, think it will maximum be 60£ for a legal copy.
OEM is never really legal if you buy it afterwards as it should only be sold with a new pc. (think you can stretch this to building your own pc and buying oem copy in the same shop)

I did build my own PC and have used a dubious copy of Win XP since building it ! Does this mean I'd be covered by using OEM ????? Think I'll just buy the other one I posted seems to be much less hassle !
Thanks

Dell OEM wont cover you but standard OEM will, oem licenses live and die with the pc that theyre are first registred with and cannot be legally used on another.
Personally dont see the point in registering home pc software, not like your ever gunno be shafted by teh BSA or FAST
