Default New Focus 2L TDCi - any info on it? Anyone driven one?

My mate works at my local ford dealer and got me a weeks test drive under the Focus Friends Scheme, free insurance etc for the week. Pretty impressed so far, haven't had a chance to give it some beans but feels good. What sort of power are they standard / with a chip?

Ex had a tdci sport!

Excellent car! think the sport is aorund the 115hp mark & 200lb ft
Very confortable! all the mod cons handled very well!

Beat a number of quicker cars in it! & fuel comsumption was awesom!

500miles to a full tank(£40) motorway driving!

yep got it in a nice blue colour (3door) Going to give it some tonight. 6 Speed is a bit wierd at first. I keep putting it in 6th rather than reverse (ala RST box)

Mine is a 3dr Titanium Sport. Pretty impressed so far.

Its a nasty french diesel eninge...

not as good as the 1.8 lynx or the 2.0 puma diesels that ford make...

so what do ford do???? They go and buy a load of french shit that doesnt pass euro 4 and then PAY to get them re-designed to pass euro 4

find out how stable it is... wheelspin roundabouts etc...

ive currently got a 110bhp seat tdi but its got esp and traction control and i chase saxo round roundabouts in it.. take major bends at 80+ mph with the TCS lights flashing at me.

but my focus will have more power and torque and no tcs or esp!!! so im bit concerned ill be slower or prang it!!

isnt the french diesel, the new 1.4's and 1.6 diesels?

thought it was just the old 2 litre mondeo 16v diesel, thats been around for a couple of years now

not definate though

my mums got a 115 diesel focus, and its the titties, really goes

Theres a choice of engine...

PSA do 1.4, 1.6 and 2.0 and all the engine codes start with DW... but I cant remember the other biit of the code now LOL

Just to make sure i understood everything... does the fact that the engine is french is enough to make it a pile of shit, mate ?

i'm surprised then, cause shit seems to go faster than great engines, if what you say is true, then... i thought i saw Citroen and Peugeot crush everyone else in Rally since quite a few years, and Renault starts again to crush everyone since they came back in F1... Probably shit with wheels is the fastest setup available in the world, maybe ?

ive driven a nearly new focus tdci when i took my escort gti for a service.

didnt half have some go in it when the turbo kicked in but low revs it was as flat as a pancake, maybe thats what most turbo cars are like, i wouldnt know!

but i couldnt fault it on anything else really,

I've driven the mundaneo's, and they are quite quick, but after driving the wifes new TDi Passat, that makes me realise that the ford has shitloads of lag by comparison. Focus is a great car though

Where as I was just stero-typing

I should have been more specific... thus:

They go and buy a load of shit that doesnt pass euro 4 and then PAY to get them re-designed to pass euro 4. Thougherly ripped of by PSA!
