Is changing a clutch on a 4X4 Sapphire easy??????
As title???
Is it a "do on your drive" job??
What sort of money is it to get a garage (SCC etc) to do it???

can do it on your drive, but its sooo much easier on the ramps, propably cost 4-6 hrs labour at a garage I would imagine, as you have to drop the exhaust, prop, box, front prop etc, then put it all back together , and lifting a 4x4 box and centre diff up while lying down isn't the easist thing in the world I would imagine

I have done one on the floor. Not the easiest job and would have been handy to have a ramp.
Don't really advise it but I do everything at home even though I have access to 5 2 post ramps, a 10 tonne 4 post ramp, 2 sets of column lifts, 2 4 post ramps, and a pit.

Tiff.............. put it this way, I paid 'mates rates' and it still cost me £120, its a fooking horrible job and and takes a good few hours, really needs an extra pair of hands when putting everything back in aswell............ if you can, i'd just pay a garage to do it

Don't go under there,lol.
Have dropped the engine, box, subframe onto a trolley, this then slides out between the legs of the hoist.
Split it all up then to get the engine out of the subframe.

I g2 get an engine crane then - is that the towing eye you're on?
Then again, the 24v prob won't clear everything if I drop it out that way

yes,lol.
Hardly any weight in the front with the engine and box out.
If you are doing it similar just remember to drop the subframe onto a trolly ao it will be to difficult to move when lowered onto the floor, and when putting it in place for getting back in.

Cheers Chaps for the advice
It was for a Friend who will make himself known soon i would of thought, but he was under some strange illusion that it is an £800 job
Then again, this is what you get changing from Beantins to Cossies
And Dave
Now i can see why you Scousers can ring a car so fast
