Mass Injuries at car meet in Stevenage Herts
At least 16 people have been badly hurt after two 'boy racers' ploughed into crowds of youngsters at a car meet in Stevenage at 21.45 yesterday. Witnesses said they saw 'kids lying everywhere' as rescue services rushed to the scene.
Pictures of the aftermath showed a huge emergency response, with police confirming that 16 people were injured, some seriously, and 12 people were taken to hospital.

Bad isn’t it I see it on sky news. Obviously the guy in the blue was going way to fast racing down that road. But what the fuck was the guy in the black car thinking. Looks like he pulled out a bit sideways and knocked the blue car off the road. Shocking

These people will spoil it for everyone.
i dont think they realise that if someone dies the driver is probably going to do a fair bit of jail time.

Wot ever you say they was over the speed limit and around a lot of people . So in my eyes that's recluse and dangerous driving to everyone driving there that night .
A lot of people think they can drive and are gods gift to driving this just shows there Rong .
If you won't to speed and do it safe do a trackday
It's safe and you will see by the end of the day just how good a driver you are .
I ran the Birmingham passionford meets for about 2 years 10 years back and I was constantly on to all at the meets not to spend or wheel spin as we would loose the venue,s and all the lads that attended stuck to the rules 100% and we all ways had a Fab time . I think it's the kids of today that could not give a shit and because of them all car meets will end up getting band

exactly Ian I remember talking to you about this back in the day, Even when I did the ace cafe anniversary meets some tools would always act like plebs outside the meet area but fingers when pointed normally came my way, however since facebook has taken over such meets any fucker with social media can gate crash anything and tarnish a well run meet/event

Agreed time and place it's just cruise culture been happening since I can remember and globally I was guilty I think most of us was we've just got older and more sensible but for some of these car show organisers to try and distance themselves from it is funny without these cars and thier drivers they would have no show the mad mile ace cafe list them all they all lined the roads to watch the antics just this time people got hurt and that's the only reason we know about it

As was the idiot in the black car driving out onto the road without looking. Blind incompetent cunts are the cause of almost all crashes, proven yet again here.
The problem is that this sort of bullshit with these assholes, will just have the law clamping down harder on car meets and possibly modified cars too. When the reality is it should push them and the authorities to offer up more safe locations where such meets can be held, and motorsport facilities to allow cars to be used in a safer environment.
But no, they close all motorsport venues down instead.
But both the assholes in the 2 cars need a good slap...although equally some of the pedestrians encouraging them and standing in the road.

I agree the people speeding are stupid. The thing is everyone knows what goes on at this events and they know there is a chance this could happen. The people standing in the middle lane inbetween two lanes of traffic are crazy to me. Just to get a better view of the racing. So they put themselfs in harm's way. That's why I park my car right out the way and then stand on a hill or wall to try and get a better view. A tire could blow out or there could be oil on the road etc to make a car spin of the road.

Would spectators at a proper track day circuit stand right by the track the wrong side of the barriers when cars are flying past? I think not!! Yet people will stand right by the side of a normal road with no protection at all to watch street racers. "Accident" waiting to happen in my opinion!!!

Too many posts.. I need a life!!
Unfortunately the trend of today is to get a vid up on youtube...facebook etc etc.....
Build up the likes and get a following.....in return it might start to pay.
While the majority are sensible the minority are looking for there 5mins of fame, be it behind the camera or in front of it.
Judgement becomes tainted and the dangerous is forefront.
I'd dread the phone call knowing the potential injures that could be sustained.
Just a quick look on youtube and the amount of videos just showing cars leaving shows/meets, the drivers reactions once they clock there actions being filmed go from sensible to turbo in seconds, most of these drives think they are colin mcrae when in reality they'd struggle with standing water at speed.

so what actually happened….? someone pulls out of a side road with his view obscured by all the pedestrians into the path of someone else driving excessively fast?

Even if the blue car was not speeding....if a blind moron drives into it's path, there's still going to be a crash.
Both parties very much at fault as well as any bystanders encouraging stupid people...and them selves being stupid of course.
And then the authorities for not offering car fans suitable venues to do things in a safe manner

is it up to the authorities to offer suitable facilities rather than private companys....? I go to the quarter mile wheres theres a drag strip....a circuit and a drift pan....Ł20 gets you on all day for the strip and circuit with an end of day print out of your times and Ł10 all day runs on the drift pans....al spectators are behind tyred barriers and fences and no wheel spinning or arsing around outwith those areas is permitted. . theres also show and shine areas for club stands.

all I can see happening is open public events like this wont be allowed in future due to the minority of arseholes. the only way to stop them is to have a police presence which means costs to the organiser.

I'm with you, right up until you blame the authorities for not providing a venue. What the heck as it got to do with them? There are loads of track days etc around the UK, just go there.

I’m definitely of the opinion the guy in black car 100% caused that. Obviously speed played a major factor in the outcome so both drivers are at fault. But the bmw pulled out and into the lane of the other car pushing it off the road. Regardless of weather his view was blocked if he had stayed in his own lane it’s most likely it would never have happened
