The only problem with track day tyres Paul, is they are designed for maximum grip on dry roads, I would not believe anyone who says they can still drive fast on them when the roads are wet especially with 500bhp and RWD!!! My 2wd Saff is only 450bhp and with my Federal 595RS track day tyres I have to be very light on the go peddle in the wet.

The likes of AR1's would be dangerous for road use in even moderate rain, or any standing water at all.

Totally agree, but I can honestly say how many people use their 450/500hp cars fast in the wet on roads anyway?
i know I wouldn’t wanna use my car in the rain at all let alone in any anger, it would be pointless

Cheers Paul

It's not necessarily a case of using them fast. The likes of the AR1's would simply be dangerous at any speed if say there was standing water. And that's just a simple carriageway, motorway, whatever.

First time I ever had 888's, was heading from the boat in Scotland down to near London. And it pissed down most of the way through Scotland along the A75. And the 888's were truly fucking terrible. Although you wouldnt expect them to be anything other than that in the weather.

But we cannot control or predict the weather.

I think the original question was tyre advice for a daily use car, so track day tyres would be no good at all.I have been caught out in the rain a few times in my car and I have to be so careful not to do anything stupid as it would be easy to lose it big time!

the thread progressed from resolving the original high end everyday tyres question to track day tyres for the same car in dry use only. the car is used in the wet for normal use but I wouldn't waste my time and money doing a track day in the wet. something super sticky that I can fit once im at the track.
