ford puma a future investment?
Looking to buy a ford puma as I need a secondary car for my business but be nice have something is fast also becoming a little bit rare at the same time. always wanted one and would like chance to get one before it becomes either to expensive or impossible.
is the value likely to climb ?
looking at 2 one bit rusty on the rear arches other pristine but the guy is asking far to much money for an old car clearly knows it value will climb as other needs work but could prob pick up for a rock bottom price, both have 90k on the clock

thats more like it, just dont expect to see any real return on it right away , will be a 5yrs + before the values on them start soaring, the focus st170 is now fast becoming a hard car to find in good condition with high factory spec, seen prices on them go up by 30% in last year

There are bargains about, just because one is more expensive than the other doesn't necessarily mean it's the better car.
I bought a 2002 1.7 puma In January very cheap. Purely for the engine to put in my fiesta. Sacrilege really as it wasnt to bad at all tbh, the puma community must be booming as Ive sold some of the left over parts to people keeping their pumas going and almost covered the cost of what I paid for the whole car as it stands.
Nows the time to buy imo

I've found that life I needed.. It's HERE!!
I think you need to be looking for an immaculate example and it needs to be maintained properly and ideally stored somewhere dry, otherwise in 5 years time it'll be rotten and worth nothing. What are your mechanical and bodywork capabilities like?
Agreed that a Thunder or Millenium is likely to be more desirable than a bog standard. i'd be looking for one that was fully loaded with any optional extras whilst they are so cheap as well.

having a hard time looking so other guy with thunder claim it sold so i guess he sold it or got someone interested to buy it, another guy but said all mint but slight bubble on 1 arch and rest under it was underseal so im skeptical if rusting he covered it, went to see another 1 that looked like had an oil leak but women claims it just an engine water leak? i said do u mean water pump? to me really looked like oil given black and black patch on the floor in her garage. other odd thing was on 1 of the doors the sliver paint was peeling off to show blue samw with the mirror....respray job at some point its past? very odd as it looks like the original sliver to me by ford but maybe im wrong, i say these cars already becoming a rare to hard find now!

I put a cheap pair of bucket seats in it, 300 mm front brake discs and mondeo mk3 front caliers..20mm rear axle spacers. Front sub frame strengthening bar. Mk2 2ltr mondeo throttle body and a cone filter.
I remember coming next to a standard puma and it just pulled away from me ha ha.

You will be waiting a VERY long time for a puma to become collectible, never really been that sought after as most see it as a birds car and just use the engine out them for fiestas, not what you wanted to hear but it’s the truth. The racing puma is a different story but they cost allot more.

the lads above speak sense, all fords have their place in the market and the puma with likes of steve mcqueens's press prank never really worked same with the cougar and nasty probe, of course in time values will go up as numbers dwindle but as to how long or how high that would be god knows, there are other fords around more collectable with values rising at a rate the puma will never reach such as the st170 high spec option, its a very odd choice of car but each to their own

Yep, agreed. They're not actually rare and will take a LONG time to be.
Quick check shows Ford sold over 53,000 of them in the UK alone and over 5,000 are still on the road here whilst another 5,000 are SORN. So 10,000 of the things still knocking about in the UK alone.
