Help valuing 20+ years of parts destroyed by my landlord 😡
Hi everyone, so Friday was a really bad day for me as I got a telephone call from my lockup landlords estate manager informing me that his demolition team had accidentally demolished my lockup and that all of its contents scrapped.
My biggest problem is that the parts that I’ve accumulated have been collected over 20+ years and the price of things have escalated massively from when I purchased most of them and some of my parts just aren’t available to buy any more.
The estate manager wants me to list everything along with prices so I’m hoping that the vast amount of members may be able to help me on valuing the parts so here goes with the list:-
Turbo Technics XR4x4 sump with 3.14 front diff,
Turbo Technics 3.14 rear diff,
XR4x4 front plated lsd,
Rouse sport front seats,
Rouse sport side skirts,
Rouse sport rear bumper,
Really good condition 3 door Cosworth doors with the door cards, windows and electrics,
Un-cracked 3 door dashboard,
3 door centre console,
4 inch full stainless turbo back exhaust which I don’t know the make of unfortunately,
The above parts are the ones that I’m struggling to find anywhere and therefore can’t find a value of but I’m sure that some of the members on here will know the value of.
Unfortunately these aren’t the only parts that were destroyed, I’m going to list the other parts on here too just to get it out there as to what other parts I’ve lost.
24 valve BOA engine built on a BOB Cosworth lightened and balanced bottom end with forged pistons, H beam rods, ARP rod bolts, uprated Melling oil pump, custom main cap brace, steel main caps, heavy duty main cap bolts, polished heads, multilayer head gaskets, uprated head bolts, billet timing chain tensioner and re profiled cams.
R34 Skyline GTr gearbox with front and rear prop shafts, Exedy twin plate clutch and flywheel,
Sierra 4x4 gearbox that had been sent to Bara motorsport for a uprated centre diff and uprated gear kit,
Cosworth 4x4 gearbox crossmember with Flo-flex gearbox mount,
2x complete 2wd Cosworth poly bushed front subframe assembly’s,
Complete 4x4 Cosworth poly bushed front subframe assembly with Flo-flex engine mounts,
Cosworth T5 gearbox with mustang bellhousing to fit V6 engines,
Alloy bellhousing from a 2.8 4x4 type 9 gearbox,
2.8 V6 clutch and flywheel,
2.9 V6 clutch and flywheel,
Fiesta RS1800 engine,
Full series 1 RS turbo body kit,
Orion 1600i Ghia grill, painted white to match the S1 body kit,
Set of 17” fox racing Sierra 4x4 fit wheels,
5x Peugeot 405Mi16 wheels,
Audi S3 1.8t BAM bottom end fitted with a big port AGU head,
Audi S3 gearbox,
Full Audi S3 wiring harness and clocks,
Full set of seats from my VW T4 Caravelle,
V6 LPG system.
There was probably more but that’s what I’m able to remember and as you can imagine I’m truly devastated with the loss of all of this. If anybody can help with values on these parts I’ll be incredibly grateful.

Get them to agree that the RS owners club can value the items and offer places like here as alternative proofs.

My mate paid 150k for a Carrera 911 club sport, it had 15,000 miles from new. The insurance wanted an authenticated valuation. The owners club put 250k on it due to how hard it would be to find another...almost impossible in that condition, originality and low miles.

CozzyKing. Some sort of giant fuck up by the sound of it!!! How come nobody checked to make sure it was the right lock-up to demolish? Usually before demolishing someone checks to see if there is anything inside the building. The metal car parts would normally be seperated from the bricks/blocks/timber etc not all mixed up together as it costs more to dispose of it like that. You must be gutted but at least you can claim for the parts that have gone. You will never be able to find all those parts again so make sure you get the right amount of compensation.

This issue is going to take years of argueing between the Landlord's and the Demolition company's insurers.
Everyone concerned is going to need photographic evidence and receipts for purchase and the Insurers will still come back and ask for proof it was all actually in the units.
Best of luck with this but it's going to be a very long haul to get any payout, let alone an acceptable one.
I think you need to be looking for professional assistance with this, with a Loss Assessor, the fees for which of course will be chargeable.
In fact get every claimant together and use 1 person /company for the whole lot.
You may be able to go with No win no fee.

PassionFord Post Whore!!
It was one hell of a fuck up and I’m not the only one that suffered a massive loss, they were supposed to be demolishing the units slightly further down which had already been emptied but in the same row as me another tenant had several vintage motorbikes and a vintage sidecar outfit destroyed totalling in excess of 150k.

14000+ post superhero
It's odd that they started demolishing buildings without opening doors first... Even to check there's no homeless folk sleeping.... and even that they continued to demolish even when they would have seen all sorts of stuff in the rubble....

I can see it if it gets to court,
So Mr Demolition man, did you look inside any of the Lockups, before you attacked them with an excavator?
No your Honour,
Did you notice any strange bits of metal and or plastic in the rubble when you first started pulling the units apart?
No your Honour,
Really?
So you didn't do an Asbestos survey on the interior of buildings, or inspect for hazardous chemicals like battery acid or any other which could have been stored there or inspect for gypsum based products which would have needed to be separated.
And by doing any of the above you would have noticed the contents.
If the Demo contractor did look inside and they were empty then the Estate manager has got a few questions to answer.
I wonder if this has anything to do with a failed planning application for redevelopment of the site, which is now accidentally cleared.
It wouldn't be the first time it's happened.

Only bit I can help with is if it was a genuine R34 GT-R gearbox then it's worth Ł4-5,000+ as they're different to R32 and R33 'boxes and much stronger/rarer.

Not entirely sane
The crownwheel and pinion alone on the front Turbo Technics diff would cost about Ł1500 to replace. Someone looked into getting some made, they were looking at Ł550 a set if 10 sets were made. Most of the cost on a one off set is setting up the machines to cut them.
