Default Tesla roadster

Am I missing something here ?

Reads to me £187000 buys one which seams relatively cheap when the veyron was a million pounds !

The Veyron was also subsidised to the tune of another one and a half million per vehicle. They cost 2.5 mil each to make.

I knew they sold them at a loss but didn't realise is was by that much

It makes me think there must be more to pay than the £187000 for the Tesla, can't find any info though

They was trying to get the price of the Tesla down for quite a while.

I work every so often opposite one of the big Tesla factories (not that they actually do much) and all I see being done there is demonstrations about bad business practices. They are holding a test drive event next weekend so I may pop along and have a go if I can be bothered.

They are mate if it is 187k and it does what they say it will I'd consider selling some cars and buying one as it's bloody cheap for what it is
Can't see them being anywhere near that price though tbh

It certainly looks good.

I guess in some respects, it's cheaper to build the Tesla, as there is far less engineering going into it compared to an IC engine car with conventional type transmission, which in itself can be a huge cost to get right to offer as such a car.

And there is no way it will be the same quality as the Veyron.....although it will maybe hold similar relative values ?

And the Veyron is real...Does Musk not pull a lot of marketing stunts just to bring cash in like this ? Same with that Jeep thingy ?

That is my worry it either won't do what they say it will do, or cost loads more at the end, if it was a done car I could sit it and drive and hand my money over I think I would

But theres alot of ifs and buts, but if he pulls it off I'm sure they will be worth more than the price above in the future if there is no hidden costs yet to be announced

Even the video linked, is November 2017....

What guarantees would you have in terms of refunds if it didnt come to fruition etc ? They'd need to be pretty solid

Yep theres that side to it aswell, I know musk is a billionaire but I'm damn sure he won't spend all his personal fortune paying all the debts off if Tesla motors goes down the pan

Tough call, if it comes out and is what they say it is at the price there saying I'm sure they will all be sold very quickly and will quickly increase in value like the original veyron did

If your deposit and money could be safe, maybe there is a fun investment opportunity there.

Big IF though.

That said, he does seem to make stuff happen.

Maybe he should use some of his personal fortune to help the pretty much empty factory of his that is opposite my work Hardly anyone works there and been like that for years.

Smaller lighter chassis based around existing platforms ? And drivetrain pushed harder, with better batteries ? I'd say it doesn't sound too impossible given it's twice the price of a regular Tesla ?

The other "supercar" type options asking millions, are just ridicluous, but clearly with zero intentions as an actually production car, and also no parts bin or existing infrastructure for the drivetrain etc ?

Id expect the Tesla to be half a million at least which is to much for me, the Tesla doing 8.8 1/4 mile has gotta be close to the lotus doing 0-186 mph in sub 9 seconds

I'm trying to find an email address to see if I can get a written confirmation total price is £187k, if it is I think IL be putting down the £38k deposit on a base model

I'm confident they will be worth more than that in years to come

Probably best speaking to a Tesla dealer ? As presumably that's the route they need to be bought through ?

But I'd agree, there is a good chance it could be a solid investment. Buy now, there will be a demand when they are produced with higher selling prices for immediate delivery on the used market.
And if not, you still have a mega fast car anyway.

And I'd think the deposit should be fully refundable if they fail to deliver ?

Roadster still not in sight...but one of the many videos of the Plaid destroying supercars. Performance bargain in many respects. Although despite how fast it is, I can just feel it would be a little boring running the exact same times every single time ( just watch Tesla Plaid Channel ).
No fuss, no dramas, just goes straight low 9's every time.

Give me the McLaren every time!! I just cannot see the appeal of electric cars!! The other thing is with them nobody knows how they are going to last long term and what costs will be involved if they go wrong!!

Are McLaren's cheap when they go wrong ?

You could probably buy a handful of Plaid's for that McLaren.

Tesla's have been around for some time now, they do seem to be lasting well. And in terms of going fast....in many regards they're obliterating what many seem as fast cars.
From what seems to be a mundane 4 door saloon.

Although have to say, it does seem dangerous allowing just anyone to own such a car.

I don't think it can do anywhere near 200, although at point of use, whatever speed it does it does not emit any gases etc.

Currently limited to 163 mph apparently with a later update coming for 200 mph something about rear diffuser

I forgot to say I did get in contact with Tesla about the roadster and they basically said you pay the deposit of £38000 or £187000 for the limited edition, then there will be a final payment once car ready for delivery but they don't yet know how much the final payment is 😂🤣
No joke there trying to sell them and tell you price tbc what a load of nonsense

Which roads are the Tesla owners going to be able to get up to 200mph on? We still have a maximum speed limit of 70mph and more and more unmarked Police cars on the road. You have to be so carefull now where you push on hard. Maybe track days/Santa Pod etc are going to be full of new Tesla owners soon! Other expensive supercars offer drivers tuition to get them used to the performance, do you think it will be the same with the Tesla or any average driver will suddenly be able to hop into his new potential with upgrades 200mph Tesla straight off the showroom floor. What insurance catergory are they going to be in?

200mph is irrelevant.

The Plaid will do 0-150 in around 9 seconds on most roads. That will annihilate most, if not all "supercars" ( ie. it's approximate 1/4 mile )

Various races, at the strip.

I think most drivers who know what the Tesla is going to be capable of would not even bother getting humiliated by one!!. They will become a new "supercar" that other drivers will not even bother challenging! Yes they will become the fastest thing on 4 wheels, but exciting? I think that will split opinion for a long time.

And on the street...no fancy surface, no special tyres.

Seriously impressive

and in the wrong hands....could be seriously risky. Not sure what "driver aids" they have to try and prevent stupid things from happening
