Yes mate there’s loads of that available from many paint suppliers, it’s not a primer that builds or is sanded, it simply creates adhesion . It’s even available in aerosol, 1 or 2 very light coats and your sorted

Took the shell in the oven and high build primed the repairs

I used a 5-1 mix unthinned.pretty heavy filler primer. And I piled it on with the intention of blocking most of it back off , just to be sure the repair lines were right

Chucked a couple of wheels in to boot

Once dry I coated in black overspray and blocked the primer flat with p180

After this I did a top to toe check over fixed any imperfections and primed the whole shell inside and out

After the shell was brush sealed over all the joins and welds I spray sealed all the places I felt should be really protected. I used a two pack spray sealer from 3m . It actually hardens like stone.

I’ll post a picture or two along the way today. I’m planning to colour Raptor the under floor , to protect the places that aren’t spray sealed. I’ll post some picks as that is done.

Just got home, took me 5 hrs to paint it but yes mate it is pretty much the best paint job I’ve ever done. And it is the only thing after 25 years of spraying that I will keep

I done it in direct gloss 2 pack like they used on them originally. I got our PPG paint rep to source the old solvent we used to use before water . So its done in Deltron DG , which is a joy to use, wonderful paint.

I’ve been banging on about using Raptor under your car floors lads and well here’s what it looks like on the floor of my car. I did seal and spray seal the floors , the spray seal I used was a two pack sealer with separate hardener, then this morning I mixed clear Raptor with some Radiant red 2pack and blasted it over the floor,

It comes out the right colour holds some decent gloss and flows pretty flat , but the real beauty of it is it’s two pack and it hardens and cures , it’s actually supposed to be used in cargo bays of pickup trucks

Really easy to use , blow it on with a Shultz gun . All you need to do is buy a clear kit and add your own colour. Simple

My current car is a E91 BMW 330d which I really like. Had a Mk2 focus st before that which i absolutely loved (miss that car), and a few other Fords in my time. My first car was a mk3 escort 1.3 and my parents had a few fords when growing up.
Always had a soft spot for Fords and loved the fast Fords of the 80's and 90's. Always wanted a RST or a cossie but could never afford the insurance. Now I can they're all bloody too expensive to buy now!
I think my dream car would be a escort Cosworth or a RS500 or even more of a dream would be a RS200!

God yes all of every car you mention is what I grew up loving, I have a fiesta st in the garage which I’m keeping for ever , it’s a mint dream also ,but never has been worked on ,proper standard 42000 miles. I always wanted an RST, now I decide to do a car to paint and keep, I looked around but there was never any other car in the equation.Had to be a red turbo. I do estimating now and actually haven’t painted a car for more than a year until this morning . Was a bit nervous but you don’t forget something you’ve been doing for 25 years all that easy lol
dream car for me ,you will laugh is a mk1 XR2 . I am definitely going to get one when the escort is finished,

That paint finish is stunning and you have'nt even done the final finishing off and polishing yet!!! You have done a lot of preparation and it has paid off, 20 times better than the original Ford spray finish, well done!!
