Default what`s with new cars and foglights in bumpers coming on when they turn a corner

Looks proper poo, its like they've got dodgy lights coming on and off....rubbish...Was just watching a car in the mirror behind me on a roundabout, turning right the right fog light was on and when we went left to leave the left came on, then went off as we straightened up...

What`s going on with cars, getting rubbisher and rubbisher, seen a few others aswell turning a corner with one fog light on, thought the other was fooked or something..wtf

The link refers to U.S cars but the principle is the same in Europe.

It's to give you extra light on the inside of a corner.

My focus does it, but the lights are in the corner of the headlights, they light up the inside of the bend, it makes quite a difference actually, although not sure how effective cars are that use the fog light.

My old mk4 Mondeo had the cornering lights in the headlamps and the lamp units themselves would turn at slower speeds, although surprise surprise they only worked every now and again.

Ah, Ha like this video then, strangely I have a MK2 Focus facelift, I'm off to check if mine does it.
So steer left with Headlights on and the left foglight comes on but indicate right and the right fog will then come on even if you're still steering left.

I've never seen a mk2 focus with them before, I bet theyve been enabled somehow in that video. Mine don't come on when you indicate, only with the steering, but being right in the corner of the headlamps and pointing straight at the floor they are fairly subtle!

Looks stupid if you ask me, even a slight bend in the road makes em come on, when i was out last night it happened with a car coming towards me, only a little bend aswell...

everything called "smart", is shit...sick of it..

Some modern things on cars are useful, my focus has cameras in the windscreen that read the road signs and display them on the dash, city stop that applies the brakes for you in an emergency at speeds below 20mph, lane assist that notifies you with a vibration of the steering wheel if you drift over the white line, don't correct it and it will steer back in for you.

City stop has saved me once when some tart in front of me pulled away at a junction then stopped half across it, I was looking through the side window to see if it was clear, not noticing she had stopped so I would have rear ended it.

But on the other hand a lot of modern technology in cars is a total distraction and should be banned, phone integration to the dash so you can pretty much use your phone while driving, the Citroens with a camera in the rear view mirror for uploading pictures straight to social media etc.

Its stupid all the phone stuff in cars, they should have phone jammers instead....

Also all the driving aid rubbish, its like cars are being made for people who actually dont like driving...

My mk4 mondeo has them also in the headlights. I think mine are great. I've seen loads of cars with them where the front fog lights are.

when I first seen them I thought that the bulbs were blowing lol.

This technology has only been around for how long

I must say, the fog light coming on is a bit odd. While it does help, I think it can be a little distracting for other drivers. You could mistake it for someone flashing you out of a junction if you weren't very observant. My Golf had an additional light in the side of the headlamp that came on, while my Megane and Mondeo had the adaptive headlights that turn with the steering. It does make a difference for sure. Anything to help you see better in the dark is good in my book. When you get in an old car and realise how shit the lights are, you definitely appreciate modern stuff like adaptive lighting.

I'm a bit torn on driver aids. They can be really useful. The adaptive cruise control on my Golf was brilliant, and the emergency brake assist stuff is good. The problem is, in the case of lazy drivers, it can make them even more lazy and even less obedient. That's down to attitude and poor driver training rather than technology though.

The phone stuff is idiotic though. The fact we banned using phones a few years ago, and now more and more cars are having big touch screens fitted as standard is just ridiculous.
