Default Looking at early mustangs for next project

Always liked the early mustangs and now I've nearly built my rs500 track car I have been seeing what's around. My plan would be to get a 1966ish v8 coupe with the intention of doing a restmod with power brakes, power steering, coilovers but I'm going to be running 18s poss 19s so I intend to make it a full metal wide body with a really smart paint job (not sure on colour yet) if all goes to plan I would being looking at going LS power poss supercharged (or similar) in time to come.

Wondered what people's thoughts were and wondered if anyone knows the best place in the UK to buy standard and modded parts from?

There isn't a best place for parts in the U.K.
The best suppliers are in the States, import parts yourself, even with shipping duty and VAT it works out cheaper and compared to some U.K suppliers, quicker.

Good luck with trying to find a reasonably priced 66 Coupe, whether shell or complete.

I drove a standard one years ago and it was the worst car I've ever driven so the resto mod idea would be awesome. Amazing looking cars and if it drove nice then win win really. Good luck mate

Kindigcustoms in America have done some awesome Mustang conversions. They upgrade everything to modern standards but still keep it looking like a 60s Classic but the costs of what they do must be astronomical!!!

That's one of the shows that's got me wanting to do it lol. I'm quite lucky that apart from buying the parts I'm pretty confident that I can build it how I want myself so will save a lot of money there.

I have a 1966 got it while ago on holiday in the USA a few years ago, fairly rust free California car which had a lot of money spent on the engine, suspension, brakes etc. Plan was to just drive it, but that has turned into a full blown restoration and quite a lot more modifications to suspension and steering engine ETC its going to be assume.

Going off track a bit here, there is no one specialist in the UK there is mustang manic who is ok but prices are more than you can get it yourself from the US, AVOID Essex Mustang at all costs !!!

You really need to know what you want as getting parts and doing conversions are quite expensive and take a lot of time to get the parts over from the USA. Rust is a big issue they all have it mainly as they put very little paint on the underside, the underside of the dash has no paint at all!!

I would not go down the LS rout as it just seems wrong to me. If i was going down the route again i would try and find the best 6 cy car i could and work with that as you will change most of the running gear. I have a 4x4 cossy transplant in my head, that would be cool.

Prices have gone through the roof but I was in Germany this week and there are quite a few cars there which were priced very well and very easy to get over here.

Hope this helps

if you need any help with US side of things, i work stateside 7 months of the year, and i'm always shipping stuff to the uk for people, a lot of companies in the states will only deal with US customers, or so i have found, but a lot also offer free USA shipping, i can help with finding a car for you as well, i have found that southern cars are sold at a premium because they are supposed to be rust free, but people are buying from northern states and selling them once registered in a southern state as a southern cars, northern cars are much cheaper and not as bad as you think if you look around, PM me if you or anyone needs help stateside, i'm in america for another 6 weeks or so

there are many good parts suppliers in the uk which are reliable and with decent prices anything mustang or camaro is dead easy to get hold of if you know where, my brother in law has 3 mustangs at moment and is thinking of thinning his flock soon to buy a raptor, best advice is find a shipper then jump a flight to southern usa and buy there and ship back as your money will go way further over there for a non rusty example
