Cosworth 4x4 oil dipstick part number
As title, I need to double check I have the right dipstick for the engine. I’m
assuming there is an allowance for the filter arm on the 4x4, as I’m having some funny oil readings between cold and recently run.
Thanks

I don’t know the answer but there is a thread on here somewhere about the correct way to measure and I THINK it may have been hot due to the amount of oil the head holds?

Yeah this might be the case as if I fill it to max when stone cold then run the car and measure within 5 mins or so of stopping the engine, the oil will read very low towards and below min. Top it up to full at this point and when cold for some time (days/week or so) it will read 5/6mm over max. Not bothered just want to make sure the right dipstick is being used and the engine isn’t being forced to breathe heavy.

I had a look on catcar there are two sticks showing first finis number is 6052015 -28/02/1990 which I guess would be the 2wd one then the other finis is 6542379 01/02/1990-31/12/1995 which should be 4x4

Thanks for the responses guys. Reading the oil is fine when cold, just seems to be very low when run and checked 10 mins or so later?
Thanks for part numbers? Inow realise I need to figure out the stamped number on the dipstick itself, can anyone tell me if this is correct for a 4x4?
