Default 4x different brands of tyre on one car???

i spent most of yesterday car hunting for the wife.Shes after a newish focus and I found the perfect car at my local ford main dealer.
focus 1.5 diesal,low miles,right colour,only 4 years old and in mint condition.
after the test drive I noticed the car had a complete mix match of tyres in various levels of tread depth.
n/s/f= new budget
o/s/f= part worn Goodyear
n/s/r= newish continental
o/s/r= part worn hankook
i allways thought you should at least have the same brand of tyre on the same axle at roughly the same tread depth???
the salesman told me it was perfectly ok and that it would be nothing to worry about.
When I told him I was paying cash and didn’t want pcp or finance he wasn’t interested and told me there’s no haggling on the price unless I get finance and the cash price is the price on the screen.
So I will take my momey else where.

Yes, I would say a main dealer car you would expect at least the same tyres on the same axle, also I think it tells you a lot about the previous owner and how they would have budgeted servicing on the car.

Unless it was a company car.

Cash means fuck all now at dealers as the cars are that competitively priced because of online trading etc they only make a few grand if that on a used car , the way they make money is by selling all the rest of the shit like warranty , gap insurance , paint protection etc etc .

if your not happy mate wait to find a new car , my car I got Ł100 off but it was already reduced by Ł800 lol then told him I don't want anything else , he was sound tbh but been thinking of gap insurance at Ł311 for 3 years and said I will set it up when I collect the car but been quoted online Ł182 for the best replacement policy so he's fucked it there as well lol.

cheers paul

went with my daughter 2 months back to a ford dealer in herts as she wanted a 2yr old fiesta, had same thing of mismatched tyres even odd sizes, when you talk cash to them it makes no difference as all they ever want is finance or bank transfer, insisted to them if they sorted tyres we would buy it so salesman simply robbed wheels off another fiesta which wasa touck as they were 17s and the car she wanted only had 16s lol

My mondeo I bought a few months back has 2 different types of tyres on the front and 2 matching ones on the back.

tyres wouldn't put me off. As long the car drives ok and the car doesn't feel like the tracking out just go for it.

Went to a couple of dealers today. They both wanted Ł150 admin fee on top of there prices??
and one would let my wife test drive the car it’s company policy bot to give test drive till the a deal is in place!!! She has a bad back she need to drive the car to see how it felt.
Good news we found a car at jct600,matching tyres and a good long test drive. Happy days.

Just to add, similar with my Mondeo I bought from Ford main dealer many years ago, had 3 diff makes of tyre on, when I mentioned it they just said if it was issue then service department would sort it. Surprise, surprise nothing happened, so I soon got 2 new tyres myself, but got good price on car so I factored it in. They stood out cos one was very new high end make another a very used budget make.

What sort of person has a fairly new car with 4 different makes of tyres on it? I would not accept a car especially from a main dealer like that.It just says to me that the previous owner was struggling to run the car and what other servicing things were not done or half done on the cheap. You can get a fairly decent set of tyres these days for a reasonable amount of money if you shop around and a main dealer will have access to tyres at good prices so no excuse to have a car for sale with mis-matched tyres!

Man dealers arnt bothered as long as the car is up to mot standards.

not letting you drive the car before a deal is done is fookin stupid.

Personally I think it's downright irresponsible for a dealer to sell a car with four different tyres on as it could be potentially pretty dangerous. Cars should at least have two tyres that are the same on each axle.
With regards to test drives, not allowing one is just a piss take.

Who would actually even consider buying a used car that they can't drive first?

some people must do or dealers wouldn't say it?

Good luck with that one, my cmax doesn't even have a spare wheel well to put a wheel into. I keep a space saver in the garage so if we are ever any distance from home I'll chuck it in the boot.

It would not bother me having the proper full sized wheel and tyre in the back as I will be getting another estate.Having a narrow size space saver or a can of stuff to put into the punctured tyre is not for me!!
