Cosworth Engine Not Starting
Hi All,
I bought a complete 2wd cosworth engine and during the installation i changed all the sensors, distributor rotor, distributor cap and spark plugs cable (tdc sensor gap is 0,8 mm and the distributor rotor 0,3 mm).
The engine has a good spark on all four spark plugs, the timming marks seems to be ok.
However, the engine is not starting and is getting a lot of fuel.
Is there someone who can help me?
Thanks.
Thanks,
José Novo

Hi,
Thanks for the help.
I tried to start the engine with the spark plugs outside of the engine but connected with the distributor and has a good spark.
The ecu has a standard chip and the engine is without any upgrade.
If someone can help, i will appreciate.
Thanks.

try a timing light shining on the crank pulley and fired from #1 plug lead - this will tell you if you have the plug leads on the right order on the cap (well at least #1 anyway!) then check that the firing ordrer is 1342.
what do you mean when you say its getting a lot of fuel? - be precise. do you mean the exhaust is smelling of fuel?
if you have compression, the plugs are not soaked in fuel and they are firing in the right order then SOMETHING should happen!
does it sound like its got compession on all 4 cylinders when you crank it?
disconnect the injectors and then crank it - if theres residual fuel in the cyclinders it should fire or at least get rid of the excess fuel and allow you to start afresh
disconnect injectors and squirt some engine starting stuff.
if that doenst work then scrap it !!

Hi All,
Today, i´ve removed the injectors from the engine and tried to start and found that is sending a lot of fuel pressure.
Moreover, if i try to start the engine the piston gets a lot of full in a few seconds avoiding the sparks to firing.
If someone can help me, i will appreciate.
Thanks for the answers.

i dont know if english is your first language but its a little difficult to follow what you are saying.
have you removed the injectors or have you disconnected them? if you have removed them the map sensor will not read correctly because it won't sense the manifold vacuum. you must have the injectors fitted.
what do you mean "that it is sending a lot of fuel pressure"??
did you try the suggestions i made earlier? what were the results?
