Default ***Remap for kit car 650kg looking for 400bhp+ zetec

Hi guys

Have lots and lost of question's for my Ford Focus based kit car. Any help will be appreciated.

Need a recommendation for a tuner, someone that has good experience mapping a car with light weight and high power….. current power is estimated at 240--270 BHP, im looking to achieve 400bhp controlling power through a electronic boost controller, 200bhp for track use its enough for me, full 400 for the odd straight line sprint. Based on the below spec what do you guys think. And which company has the experience to take this on light weight-->high power. And will most be able to work with the current ecu?

Kit car kerb weight: 600ish estimated

Current power: 240--270

Engine spec: blacktop zetec….Accralite pistons..turbo forged rods.apr stud..copper head gasket...poilshed head….bosch 750 injectors...t34 turbo (surprised very little lag)….3inch exhaust….fancy fuel pump will get spec... do i need anything else for 400bhp

Gearbox MK1 ford focus with Quaife 8 paddle clutch.

I also need to get the following fitted. And dont have the time is there anyone that is reasonable labour charges that will fit these for me? Im based in west london but willing to travel for the right mapper.

Electric Boost controller

Fabricate a new bracket for the intercooler, current one snapped.

HKS SSQV dump valve (the kid in me wants dump valve ad rev limiter :0)

Omex rev limiter

Thanks Again.

Should be able to help, but:

What is the current ECU?

Potentially, the turbo, ECU and oil pump will be the things holding you back from doing 400bhp reliably, based on what you've said above.

Looks interesting Intercooler looks plenty big but will struggle with temp sitting like that.
You need to say what Ecu it has on it and for me it makes no diff it’s a light weight car with mapping other than how well it’s put together being a kit car.

Looks like the intercooler needs standing upright or maybe swap to charge cooler if you cannot package it that way, I assume it’s tilted to allow some view out the back?

Best bet as a dta is quite rare on the ford side I would see if Msd could map it or speak to dta for a dealer list and choose one they recommend.

Hi

Intercooler you guys are probably right, im on a tight budget. dont want to fork out $$ to get the intercooler moved unless its 100% required.

The other option would be to place the intercooler across the roll bar, im just worried about costs. Ie by the time I get brackets welded on the cross bar, I will need to factor In re-spraying the cross bar area, how much would you guys estimate for moving it, and is it 100% necessary.

Also do you guys think the position/angle of the intercooler will create uplift on the rear, I Im never going to be a competitive driver, if its marginal not really bothered.

Heres some clearer pics

Regarding the Intercooler. Couldn't you mount it upright, a little lower and just create some ducts to feed air to it? Seems plenty big enough, and you have some open areas that some simple ducts would be easy to fit.

I expect the rollbar will have some effect on the performance of the spoiler, and then with that behind also? I'd like to know how much air is actually creating downforce with and without the obstructions.

Love the car though

I would highly recommend Norris Motorsport, unfortunately not very local to you being in Derbyshire but they would definitely be able to sort you out.

Very interesting car mate.
The intercooler would benefit with an integral scoop to direct the air through it rather than spilling round the open sides.
Good luck with it

How is the intercooler held on, its looks like just two metal brackets? If so thats not that much surely you could adjust it/twist it a bit so its more upright behind there?

I'd get that beefed up a bit, you don't want that coming apart at speed
