Default Anyone ever regretted selling a car?

Think I’ve had a midlife crisis 10 years earlier then I should.

Woke up and basically decided all my cars are going

Just took a deposit on my rs2000 that I’ve had 6 years. I absolutely love the car but a few running issues of late have left me hating it. I’ve been throwing money at it and got no where so decide it’s time to part ways.

Also putting a fresh mot on my rs1800 and that’s also just gone up for sale. Spent a year restoring it but again it seems just money after money.

Also do have a 53k 1.6 mk3 si fiesta that’s again immaculate. That’s also going.

I feel I may really regret all this but as it is I never use the cars. I’ve bought a Mondeo st220 and jump in that all the time now. With having a 18month old daughter I’m realising that turning 30 this year its time for the toys to go. I don’t have the time to spend maintaining the cars and they are constant money pits.

That said I am looking at getting a mk1 focus rs this year. I’ve wanted one song forever and it would be abit more practical then what I have now. Plus I can’t see prices doing anything but going up in them so think my money would be safe in one.

Moxed feelings at the minute of regret and relief

Constantly working on cars and not getting the use out them is frustrating that’s why I decided to take mine off the road and blitz everything it needs and I wanted to do rather than getting frustrated at things playing up ect.

Think the mk1 rs sounds more appealing than having 3-4 projects you can’t use I don’t think you’ll regret it tbh.

Would keep the RS1800 and sell the rest, that will only go up and you will regret that. Sell the Mondeo and get a FRS! Live the dream.

Rs2000 I think will will staynwith the 1800 price wise. I put both for sale, escort had about 30 people wanting it Fiesta only had a couple.

To get a focus rs I’d need to sell them all to be able to sensibly affiord it.

I only paid £1000 for the st and have to say it’s a cracking all round car. That’ll stay as my bad weather car I think

I think you just need to get on with it tbh, i remember contacting you on gumtree about that rs1800 about 18months ago. First you said you wanted more than the advertised price and then said it wasn't for sale at all, can't believe your still messing about.

regret selling most of my cars as most of them are worth a shit load more now or are much harder to find

sold my cossie about 12 years ago in bits for around £3-4k
scrapped 2 xr3i mk4's
scrapped a fiesta mk3 xrv
traded a troublesome mazda 323 turbo 4x4 for a mk2 golf gti and regretted it instantly!
i even regret selling my 1.9 cdti vectra as it was a reliable workhorse!

so be careful what you get rid of... you probably will regret it

My old XR2i, H29LEL. Loved that little motor. Got rid before going to Iraq but my “mate” never paid the full amount

And my ST3. Treated my self after Afghan. GV06HSY. Best Car I’ve had.

I really regret selling my mk1 Focus RS and my Fiesta RS Turbo. Loved those cars.

I'm currently seriously considering selling my 2wd saph cossie as I can't see it ever getting done at this rate what with spending all my spare time with my little one and working flat out. Got a couple of people interested in it but not 100% sure I want to do it as it's what I've always wanted and it's highly unlikely I'll be able to afford another as good as what I've got in the future.

Maybe I'll just leave it in the garage and forget about it until I'm ready to sort it out, I've just bought a nice 16 plate Golf GTI for my daily so it's not like I've not got a nice car to enjoy

Dont sell it dude. Still better than money in the bank even if its just sat in the garage. When your in a better position to do something with it you will be thankful you kept it. Cossies will always be a halo car... even shonky old saphs

Reason being it was advertised with a lot of bits that needed sorting. As it was for sale I was getting the bits sorted hence I wanted more. It’s now pretty much completely sorted and I have been driving it now and then.

I’ve wanted one for years but just not practical for what’s I need

I regret selling my sierra gt hatchback. One of the reasons why is cause I sold it for 200 quid to a good mate of mine.

It had escort cossie wheels on it and a full cossie interior.

You couldn't buy 1 recaro seat for 200 quid these days lol.

I miss my puma cause it was a fun little car. I miss my ST170 but I sold that to get my mk3 Mondeo 2.5 v6 Zetec s. I love this Mondeo. I would replace the Mondeo for a ST220 if I had the spare cash.

I have to admit my st220 is a cracking all round car for £1100 you’d be hard pushed to buy anything better for that money

Never regretted selling a car, although it did take me a long time to convince myself to sell my Mk2 Focus ST. Absolutely bloody loved that car and it was a bit of a sad moment when I handed the keys over and watched it drive off. I do really miss that 5 pot. Just glad it went to a good home. The E91 330d that has replaced it though is aweome and I'm still very happy with it
I do regret selling my dirt bike and giving up motocross many many years ago. I had a 1991 Kawasaki KX125 and did school boy motocross. Raced up until I was 18 and then fucking women entered my life and I gave it up

Not really, as usually moved on to something more up to date and improved, but saw my old Orion about year after I sold it and it was in terrible state, smashed and trashed, but it served me well for 12 years and was immaculate when I sold it, so annoying to see.

Carrera 2 993 911, worth 3 times what I sold it for.

E30 325 sport...loved that car

I loved mk2 xr2s, used to be great fun. The amount I used to buy dead cheap and thrash untill they died, shame really but good fun at the time

Yeah I had three, two black & a blue one loved them all, scrapped the last just as it was about to snap in half from rust. Wish I still had it now though

And my old Mk3 'tina, first car I ever did an engine swap on about 30 years ago now! Showing my age...

Should have kept this, bought it about 3 years ago by chance, had no rot and massive history file and a 1.9 cvh.
Needed paint and that was it.
Sold it as had to pay an architect bill

Has anyone sold a car, not heard of it again for quite a few years and then seen it up for sale again and gone to view it? This happened with my 1600e Uren Savage V6 and I was gutted by what a wreck it had turned into!! When I sold it is was immaculate and I probably would have bought it back if it was still as good.
Next time I heard of it was a few years ago and it had been re-built and sold for over£13k! Worth a lot more now I would think.
