Yes, sad that he didn’t get to know it was being done, at least the family could get close to 100k for it if they need the money.

I would be very suprised if any of the owners whose cars have been re-built on the show just thought it was a free way of cashing in. Through various reasons they could not have done the work themselves but they loved their cars and selling them on for profit would not come into it. If you noticed on the show when all the people turned up for the reveal they spoke to a couple whose car had been SOS'ed a few years ago and they said they they were still enjoying it and taking it to shows etc.

A lot seem to be criticising them for people who are mostly upper working and middle class.
I dont see anywhere in any of the episodes that finances have ever come into it? Its always an illness, a guys devotion to others at his own expense, trauma or some other life event.
Sure some of those events will no doubt have financial implications.
Secondly if you are poor, whats the first thing that goes when you fall on hard times? toys like old cars etc so even if they did look at financial worthyness for a resto, most poor people probably had to get rid to keep a roof over thier head long before anyone would of thought to call the show.

I understand where you are coming from, But there's bound to be plenty of owners in the country on low paid jobs where they are so ill from working, that they just can't fix their car. As where an ill high paid job person can pay someone to fix their car.
I used to be on a decent upper working class wage and could afford anything for my car, But that job has made me physically ill that I could never fix my car if it was now, I'm now limited on what I can do. I'd be chuffed if Car SOS would come and restore my FRST for me.
I totally understand if someone in your life doesn't apply for the treatment you'll never get the car sosage treatment. There's plenty of others out there that deserve having their car restored over me. I can live with that, and i'm not jealous either. The main thing is that the car is given a new lease of life. These programmes are a godsend for old cars.

Family members or friends are always the ones who contact Car SOS and tell them the genuine reasons why they think their car should be given the restoration. In your case if a member of your family applied to have your car done you would already know it was going to happen so where would be the suprise?

No, Because I wouldn't have known(thats the whole point of the show). Its sat in my garage since spring last year, Nothings stopping my partner phoning the team up while i'm at work Monday. She plans to do something the weekends after to keep me away from going into the garage to get something, Then in 2 weeks time saying she's booked a day out at Castle Combe for us to do as a family. I turn up and see a FRST steadily driving round the track, Then It pulls up to where i'm standing. I'd have no clue.

I agree , my own Escort Cos is in long term storage now away from my house so i would have no idea it had gone, I haven't seen it since November last year!

Just because your Escort Cosworth is in long term storage it is unlikely it is going to get the Car SOS rebuild. The whole show is based around people who have had a dream to get their special car on the road again but through circumstances beyond their control have been unable to do it themselves. Quite often through a serious illness or a family tragedy. They are then nominated by close family or friends to have their car rebuilt. I think the producers of the programme are probably making sure only people who really deserve to be helped are picked, like the poor guy on this weeks episode.

A chap I know is mega rich, his house alone is worth Ł25m, he bought his brothers 911 turbos but he found out they could not afford to run them, service them etc.....his friends told him so he sent them a few mil...I love that.

Glad to hear you have it under control. My sister has had the all clear from breast cancer recently but now found a lump. They think it is fine but obviously worrying.
