Specing a cossie
If realistically money was no object, and you had to have a saph, what's the best spec to be able to use on the road?
Not yesterday's technology, what's out there?
And yes, I know there are better cars out there but for a spah cossie
Engine
Gearbox
Suspension
Brakes
Wheels
The look
Etc
Cheers

205 Pug Bodyshell Lol
Probably a twin Turbo V10 out of Rs6 or BMW M5 and a nice 6 speed box, AP Brakes and Exectc suspension bespoke to car, Comp wheels. Not sure on colour, will get back to you.

Me too probably but that's a different question as I wouldn't buy them either, I would buy an R8 or the Range Rover that I have.
But modifying a car using bits that you want from donors is different and the car use is different too.

I think there is a high chance I will try a sequential 6 or 7 speed in my car at some point...just for the fun and drama of it.

I was having this conversation with a few people recently...for me it is all about the Cosworth lump and cam cover especially. I would not run a billet cover for example and even if there was a far cheaper and easier to tune engine (which obviously there is) I wouldn't want it in my 205

Agreed it's why that engine has found it's way into so many other cars nothing quiet sounds like that burbling a yb gives
2.2 s&j engine 600+
close ratio box with wide 5th bomb proof diffs for full throttle launch
Custom suspension suited exactly to car
Ap's big enough to handle stopping
TH2 alloys or comaradoras (Or however it's spelt)
Body std colour black

I've never really seen why people think they need a billion horsepower. Maybe on a track but, other than that, it's just willy waving because you can't really use it. A good B-road thrills me way more than any track ever could.
The appeal of Cosworth for me comes from the fact that it is a car of it's time. An unmodified Group A rally Saph would do me just fine. With a 38mm restrictor, you have mountains of mid range punch, coupled to a dead short gearbox to get you up to speed, with great brakes and proper suspension (for the period at least).
While I get why some might want to fit a modern turbo/ECU and a multi-link rear end, for me, if you take away the turbo lag, the noise and the slightly flawed suspension, you've taken away the essence of the car in my opinion. You might as well just buy something else.

Thiers a lot of high power cosworths out thier and has been for decades some people want big power and are able to drive them on the road super cars wouldn't exist if that were true they are built for the road not track I've heard it so many times to powerful for our roads were is McLaren? It's all personal preference like yours the things you say take away the essence of a cosworth are aids for higher performance and advancements to a modern version I won't wave my cock about just enjoy the buzz from the adrenaline it gives theirs two kinds granted the show'ers and the goers thier always has been you won't find a mirror under my car

I am just going to try a new Concentric hydraulic clutch conversion on mine, the write ups on them seem very positive.

I do partially agree with you, I’d love a modern spec 4x4 that handles well and has a fast spooling 500hp engine which I think is the max I could use in my area and have an oldskool laggy 2wd. For me the first thing that made me fall in love with a cossie was the power delivery, they feel so fucking fast compared to more modern turbo cars and you will loose that mighty midrange surge with a new turbo.

Was out in my old school 2wd yesterday in the freezing cold and it never fails to make me smile at the way it performs.

For me I'd have mine mint bodywork wise looking standard with lattices on but everything else updated with nice drop on gaz golds and mega engine and transmission/suspension but nothing too crazy as I would still want it to feel like an old Cossie as that's what puts a smile on my face when I drive it

Depends on what motorbikes you are talking about Glenn, a lot of big bikes these days are 180-200mph straight out of the showroom with lightning quick acceleration. I think you would be talking 650-700bhp with a sequential box to keep up with them!!
I have had some good fun with motorbikes and suprised quite a few and got given the thumbs up on a number of occasions.

I also like the idea of keeping some elements of the cossie ‘old school’ too as I find it keeps more of the characteristic of the original car
