never had the pleasure of meeting him in person but read loads about what he'd done over the years. Even though at times like others we might have had differences of opinion on here at the end of the day I still enjoyed reading what he was up to, looked like he could put his hand to anything and get the job done. Sounds like he had one main goal towards the end and that was his family, I hope he was able to do that.

Sad loss to the ford scene and especially his family, lost count the amount of times we met and I hosted him on our club stands at shows, first time we met I could not believe it was him as I was expecting some massive bloke lol, like many over the net we never always saw eye to eye, huge respect and R.I.P geezer

I haven’t posted on here in a while, like others I’d known about Rod’s illness for a good while, so very sad that he’s passed. You can only repeat what others have posted about the man, he could come over abrupt etc on here but you had to meet him in person to get to know the true Rod, helpful and a real nice, funny guy. My funniest and fondest memory was way back in 2007 when Mark had built an Evo 8 MR for me and fitted launch control etc. Rod was working on his Saff and Sheady unleashed the Launch Control on my car without telling Rod, man did he s...t himself, me & Mark just piŁŁed ourselves, you really needed to be there to share it.
Anyway. R.I.P Rod, you were a great guy and you & Mark pushed the boundaries of the YB.
Pete.

Legend
Lovely bloke in person, beautiful antagonist on the Internet.
I’ll never forget the passenger ride at 186mph on the M3. And guess what chaps, it was Rod driving it himself
All we can hope is to find some happiness in our lives and I’m sure Rod had plenty. RIP Rod.

Too many posts.. I need a life!!
known rod through the car scene for years, spent many a middlesex rsoc meet chatting with him and sharing stories and ideas, liked his straight talking, no nonsense approach to things, and like most have said, not always seeing eye to eye, but had nothing but respect for him, he certainly probably helped the ford scene in more ways than one due to continual development on things after most had stopped or given up.
RIP Rod, my condolences to your family and friends, especially Mark Shead as this is probably incredibly hard for you.
I would love to take over the saph and push the boundaries with the car once more,I just cannot justify spending that kind of money when I have so many other projects in waiting.

Had heard that he wasn't well, but still a real shame to hear this. As others have said, he could be a bit abrasive on here, but there is no denying that he had a huge impact on the Cosworth world. He put his money where his mouth is and did things that no one else did, and will likely ever do again. One of the most influential people on planet Cosworth, thanks in no small part to Mark Shead too. I hope the car lives on and sets an even higher record in the future. Would be a fitting send off.
RIP Rod.

He's the reason i don't have a Cossie yet - i remember he posted on here about how he put money / savings into his mortgage and didn't waste it on cars until he was comfortable enough to do so, and that's exactly what i'm doing.

Remembering Rod
Hi there, I was searching the internet and came across these posts about my father Rod Tarry. It was lovely to read all the posts and to see that he has meant so much to people. So thank you. It's a sad loss to the family and his friends.
