Default MK2 Focus RS Borg Warner EFR

Evening all

just some advice needed for those who are using BW EFR turbos on their MK2.

Looking for 400/460bhp and want to know what EFR Turbo is a good suit for the RS' 5pot?

cheers

Standard RS turbo will do around 440bhp max? Or hybrid can go a little further.

Or will you be pushing it more in the future?

As said, if you are stopping at 4-460ish then either the standard turbo is fine or a hybrid if you want it to hold a boost a bit stronger at the top of the revs. Have a chat with Jason at JW Racing about hybrids and what you want. Failing that if you're dead set on an EFR give Devil Developments a ring. Lee should be able to spec an EFR to suit what you need rather than just going for an off the shelf jobby.

Regards,

Tom

PS forgot to mention, my mk2 FRS is on the standard turbo and is CP400. CP420 HT/Revo 4+ etc run standard turbos as well and pull like trains.

If I'm going for 400/470bhp then I'd like a turbo for 550bhp simply because I don't want to be on the limit of the turbo. Would still like some room for a little more as it'll be set up on an EMU ECU

You won’t get 550 from a 7064
They are a 500hp rated turbo.
I would give devil developements a ring as they know they’re stuff when it comes the focus rs and I see your only in Middlesex.
If 550 is your goal I’d get a 550 rated turbo now and just run it at lower power rather than going for 460 now then having to change turbos further down the line

7670 efr does 630bhp or More on cossie. Mark has run 530 on 7064.

Is the RS 2.5 l? If so would prob need the 7670

Is there a lot of people running efr’s on the focus’s?

Don’t think I’ve actually seen one yet...

Seen a lot on precision turbos

Jonfoc went out in one with the smaller version of my turbo and he was shocked by how fast it came on boost.

My 2.2 stroker will spin up my 7064....in Mark Shead’s words “like electric”

Jonfoc went out in my focus with a 6758, it comes on boost very strong very early. For your goals speak to Mark Shead but a 7064 will do what you want for sure.

I am prob going itb on my stroker 2.2 cossie, I had my cos 205 back from mark in low boost and it broke the gear box, when I put the new box on I could not believe how brutal high boost was in my little 205...I am actually a little fearful of how it will be on the new motor.

Spoke to Ben at Jamsport. He highly recommended a EFR7163. Said it has a much better spool than the EFR7064 on the 5 cylinder engines.

Waiting to hear back from Devil Developments.

That might work out, I think 800bhp tried it on a cossie and didn't work.

a 7064 does that at 3400rpm where the 7163 is surge limited then ebp limited at the top in twin scroll format.
