Default Which brand adjustable TCA sierra

Bought some 3 door hubs for my xr4i. And now i need some new tca's.
I ran compbrake tca's for a 2wd saph for about 1.5 years now and didn't have any problems.

Now i have been advised not buy from compbrake. But i mostly see positive comments on those for the 2wd cos.
Is there diffrence between quality with 3dr and 2wd saph?
Or should i buy a diffrent brand? Which one?

Question, why have you been advised not to use Compbrake ones?

Mark at MK Motorsport has just made some great adjustable TCA's. Got them on the shelf for despatch too

The original 3dr arms have bigger ball joints than normal Sierra's. The diameter of the arm where the ball joint sits in is about 46 mm on an original 3dr arm. On a standard Sierra this is only 40 mm. In the past Compbrake used to make the adjustable arms from original Ford arms, but the 3dr arms are no longer available so I believe they now use the arms with the smaller ball joint from the standard Sierra. There have been multiple threads on here where people had the smaller ball joints wear out in a year or so. But it might be that only aftermarket arms wear out this quickly and genuine Ford arms, although with the smaller ball joints, are still ok.

My mate bought the last pair from the batch he made but I'd imagine he'd make a new batch if there was enough interest, they look much much better than the ones compbrake do which in my opinion look jobby.

Yes, the MK ones are nice and you can use the bladed anti roll bar with them too if you prefer.

Iirc they where Ł430 inc vat and delivery but am I right in saying that because you live outside the U.K. you don't have to pay vat?

The ball joint is a spherical bearing held in by a clip so when it wears you can replace the bearing unlike ball joints, subframe end is a rose joint.

You still have to pay the VAT when you're outside the UK, unless you have a company tax number from the country you're from. But I think in that case you have to pay the VAT in your own country. But I'm not sure how they would make you pay the VAT in your own country, so perhaps you can get it without paying VAT at all. I would be interestest to hear from someone who knows!

The arms from MK indeed look nice. If I remember correctly they were 350 pounds + VAT, so that would be 420 pounds. But the downside to raising the roll centre with only the TCA is that it creates bumpsteer. So you're fixing one issue and creating another.

I also don't like the fact that water and dirt will get into the bearing as it is completely open.

VAT is payable at 20% if you're in the EEC, If you have a valid EEC VAT number then the VAT is removed (divide the total price by 1.2). If you live outside the EEC, Norway, OZ, USA, Dubai etc etc then no VAT is payable as you'll be taxed by customs at your end.

All of that applies to a VAT registered seller.

Do you also know what is done with the EEC VAT number when the VAT is removed? Is there a message send to the tax agency in your own country that something is bought without VAT on that EEC VAT number, and as a result the owner of the EEC VAT number still has to pay the VAT in his own country?

Every VAT free EEC sale is recorded, we have to check the validity of the number ( do it here: http://ec.europa.eu/taxation_customs/vies/ ) and if it checks out the goods are sent VAT free, we then complete an EEC sales list quarterly, if the numbers don't check out they come back to us, I don't know what happens then.

Compbrake have a bad rep for their pedal boxes being poorly made leading to dangerous failure and having bad customer service. This then obviously leads to people losing faith in all their products.
However, from my experience and many other in the community their TCA's are fine.

Some examples of Compbrake wearing out quickly:

https://passionford.com/forum/ford-s...in-months.html

https://passionford.com/forum/ford-s...ble-tca-s.html

https://passionford.com/forum/ford-s...able-tcas.html

From the last link:
I use the compbrake ones and i assume they are the small ball joint as they only last a season racing

I don't know what the exact story is, some are having problems, others are not.

It would be nice to see more on the rose jointed kit to eliminate the bump steer. Do you use the tapered fitment to the knuckle on the kit, or do you need to drill the knuckle for a straight bolt?

I know you can fit boots to the joint that connects to the cross member. But can you also fit boots to the outer joint, where it connects to the knuckle? As it seems like that would be difficult.

The only thing i heard about compbrake is that the rose joints wear out. Only one or 2 cases of complete wear.
Didn't have problems with my compbrake so far. And they are pretty nice for the money.

I think the MK ones are a bit overkill and probably wear out to quick with my use.
Don't know if the 3door ones have the same quality as the 2wd ones.

How is the quality of the burton ones?

The first link is someone saying theirs didnt last. There is nothing in the other two links about them failing?
Like I said, I think its more compbrakes bad online rep with their other parts. Rather then these specific TCA's

I was able to solve the geo weirdness on my 205 with these due to the narrow track. I have the full Wrc set up and love it when you jack the car up, it looks the sex.

The car sits outside 9 of the 12 months. I Bet your products are the best compared to compbrake ones. But it's a roadcar and i only need to adjust the camber a bit. Bought the hubs to correct the roll centre.

Thanks for the info !!!
