Default Forged CVH info .

Forged CVH question ...

Can anyone shed some light on this ..ive provided a brand new Genuine Ford oil pump for my engine build to the builder ..ive just been reading a old post on PF and people are saying to fit a uprated spring in the oil pump and a cosworth oil switch . ..is this something I should do before its fitted ? Safe and needed ?

Thanks Mat.

Cosworth oil switch has a higher trigger point so gives you precious seconds extra should your oil pressure plummet so a good investment regardless.

The spring raises the pressure slightly (you can shim a standard one to the same effect) - a well build CVH wont need this IMO but ive used them on tired cvhs and a mix of genuine/non-gen pumps to give me a few extra psi at idle

you could use an Accusump if you are worried:

http://www.accusump.com/

mine has been in more than 12 years now and is fine, works well if you are taking the car out for a blast or track day.

Depending what pressure the Cossie one comes on at the light could always be on at idle, most CVH's idle at around 14psi.
High pressure spring or shim certainly won't hurt but it's not needed if the engine is in good health.
