Anyone know this car mk1 focus rs

as above. Thinking of viewing it and px my fiesta rs1800. Anyone know the history etc. Abit wary of the 400bhp claim without it being forged.

What would you say the real value would be with it being a cat d? I was thinking £8k. I've been offered £3500 for my fez plus 5k cash towards it. Wanted to do some digging first though.

I don't know much about these but personally I wouldn't pay £10k for any cat d.
If it's a keeper and an investment I'd want a more standard one and defo not a cat d. If it is 400bhp and not going to melt itself on boost then it will be a very quick car but from experience selling a cat d is a pain in the arse, the dealer will know this which gives you good negotiating power.

Also in my mind, if it's stolen or crashed you are in trouble as a car can't be written off/paid out twice in the eyes of the insurance.

as long as you don't want to sell it at any point then get it bought.

i get so fed up with people buying cheap then bleating that they cant sell their cat D (ias its too expensive) or they think its worh the same as a non registered one as it was 'just a wing' or some other BS

Rant over

buy it if you are planning on driving it and enjoying it until it rusts into a pile of dust as all good fords do

Fordmad! 07-08-2017 03:37 PM

Well I said I wouldn't want to pay more then 8k anyway for a cat d.

I wasnt aware ware if it was a cat d then you can't claimonthe insurance again. That's a big No no for me. I best just sell the fez private and look for another one :/

I don't know the specifics about write off policy, but when my daily was written off they made it absolutely clear if I wanted to keep in on the road and crashed it, was crashed into or had it stolen no money would be paid out by them or others as the car has been paid out in full.

How odd as you are paying to insure it again unless they only accept 3rd party...nothing ceases to amaze me though with car insurance...safest bet is to check with the insurer you are using before buying and avoid if they say the same. I have not heard this before.

I think it was third part only cover, I remember now as it's the only time I've not had the full bells and whistles policy.

My son's Corsa was a Cat C when we bought it (unknowingly), it got written off again when someone reversed into it, and they paid out but reduced the value due to it being previously written off. We got paid out and bought it back off them for scrap value and repaired it ourselves. Still going strong with #2 son now

I would pay 10k for that.

Whats car D? Very light damage.

Caddyshack 07-08-2017 07:15 PM

I would def get a full inspection done, there are Cat d's and then there are Cat D basket cases that we read about where EVERYTHING is bodged.
