Default the "i'll be missing ford fair this year" thread

but before i start moaning let me just say that i've been going since 96 and haven't missed a year so far

and i probably would have gone this year as well but for the new job, even with all the grumpy buggers saying they wouldn't turn up because it costs too much

but i've not been to any shows this year at all, unless you count the pf ace cafe meet so i'll probably be less likely to carry on

so, that being said, why aren't you going?

I may go, usually do, depends on a couple of mates really and if they fancy it.

Last year wasn't quite as good as has been, track action/cars were a bit thin

I'm not going because of ticket prices - Kelsey Media
Costs throughout the day
Time queuing getting in and out
Started going back in 2001

Hope everyone that goes enjoys it

I just need a break from it...
I think there needs to be big changes to get people/ groups back for 2018, hopefully it's not too late for Fordfair - but we'll see

I may possibly be going but it's a long drive for the old Cossie and big fuel cost. We worked out with food, hotel (cheap one) and fuel it would work out about ÂŁ200 all in, for one day out it's just a bit excessive I think

Not sitting in a queue for two hours watching the engine slowly cook. We pulled off the A43 at 7.45 last year and finally got on stand at around 9.30.
plus there isn't a whole lot on the trade stands unless you have the latest Fiesta or Focus.
stands seem to be ever more filled up with cars (albeit Fords) that I'd describe as run of the mill.
gonna do more local, smaller, mixed marque shows this year.

If was to go i would have to camp cause it was easier last time i did this.

I think there is getting less and less of the older fords cause people dont wanna drive them incase either there cars get damaged or parts getting took off them.

Fordfair promises to be a great one this year anniversary displays motorsport displays a big change to the years gone and as for the price well I bet Silverstone will be charging Kelsey like a wounded rhino die to all the speculation about monies around the brdc so it is what it is

I won't be going because I'm on holiday. I would have gone otherwise. Is it expensive? It is a bit, but it's still the biggest Ford show in Europe and I still enjoyed it last year.

As for people moaning about the quality of the cars or that it's all STs, don't moan at Kelsey, moan at all the owners of Cosworths/RS Turbos that are leaving them in the garage because they're afraid to drive the damn things

Not going this year as my best mates stag do in Amsterdam is on that weekend.

Would have gone if I wasn't away, despite thinking its gone downhill over the years.

We make a weekend of it which is great crack, and gives the cars a good run (down from Edinburgh).

I wonder what the view is on some other forums like ST clubs with a younger demographic. They probably think it's getting better as there are less shonky old Sierras and Escorts there

Not been since 2010 & not going this year. Will probably attend next year if Mark/Pete wish to show the car as I don't pay. Nothing against the show but the aggro of getting there & queueing is not high on my list of things to do at 71.

I thought that's why they had RS National willy waving Day @ Donnington, they can celebrate what ever they want when they want there between themselves... they've ruined that show...
That's not good enough, we have to make their heads even bigger at Fordfair by celebrating every year for every RS...
Do they celebrate every other Ford non RS/ ST?

If there's that many people complaining about the old and new stuff

Why don't the organisers split the old and new stuff up? You take our Reg's when booking, surely it's not rocket science, it would give you something to do for the Ł2 admin fee?

Why don't the do something about prices for those showing, really reduce prices significantly or at least don't charge for passengers?
Stick your T shirts where the sun don't shine!!!

Have they really gotta wait for the show to go to sh1t before they admit there's issues and do something about it when it's too late?

If Silverstone are pulling too many strings... change the venue
Worst thing RS National Day did was go back to Donnington after the refurb... will never be the same

first time I went it was great, got a new mongoose for my saph and was a great day out but that was 2008,last time I went was 2011.
adam, there's a jap show at crail this weekend and I expect it to be full of civics and stickered up imprezas!

attendees at 2016s show glenn all said they was disappointed with the last 2 years so I took a show of hands who wanted to go to 2017s and it was very clear vast majority lost the love for it, so guessing we are all doing something else now on same weekend instead, I hope it does improve so we can maybe go in 2018 so I will be waiting on reports like most

I've been to every Ford Fair since 1999 and don't intend to stop going, I've always had a good day and never failed to have a laugh with my mates there.

It is what you make it imo
