Went once and wasn't worth the effort. Was going to go with RS Matt as would have been a giggle but hopefully next year and fingers crossed be back in a ford by then.

But next year I need to get my arse into gear and get to some shows with the kids and they seem to be taking a huge interest in anything with an engine.

Especially motorbikes for my boy.

Just has had to be more local though.

Last year, we set off from home at 5am, ordinarily it would take around 2 hours to get to Silverstone, but we actually got on the stand at 10.40, so 5 hours, 40 minutes, of which most of it was sitting in the queue on the dual carriageway, and now I see that people displaying cars are being charged extra for the privilege Lol, that to me is an absolute cheek, without people displaying their cars they haven't got a show, or at least a not very big one lol.
But the main reason is that I'm just bored of Ford shows in General, I would rather go to a general classic car or hot rod show nowadays and see a far greater mix of vehicles, still love my Fords but there's also more to life.

I loved going in the early 2000s,granted its not what it once was but what is nowadays? the car scene has totally changed. I for one will be going in the cossie as usual and get my fix of fast Fords, just hope to see some cossies and RS Turbos and not all stickered up mk2 focus STs and RS everywhere.

Yep, and would have missed it last year, but as it was Steves last one for now, made the effort to go. Still loads to see once you look past the focus's if thats not your thing!

Decided to give it a break for a bit, as still going to smaller shows, and plan on doing a few more music festivals. So with family cant be out every weekend.

I'm one of those twats with a Fiesta ST and a Focus RS.
Not going car because I think shows get boring after the first hour or two, wouldn't mind driving on track but the national circuit is crap and the driving is a joke.

Have I missed something but I got my vehicle pass free. It is a club stand pass so maybe that is the difference to an individual stand pass?

Not going because we're on holiday, but probably wouldn't have gone even if we were home. Cost would have been one concern, about 200 quid with hotel, fuel, food, entry etc. Not done any big shows this year other than bealieu.

I'll be going and dragging 36 Pumas behind me for our biggest ever ProjectPuma stand.

It's the 20th year for the little Puma although nobody seems to care ahead of the Mk1 RS Focus, Escort Cosworth, Sierra RS500, Fiesta celebrations etc.

reports thus far from other club organisers I rang yesterday were the show itself was not too bad and a marked improvement on last yrs which was dire, defo not as good as hyped up to be by some but was ok all the same so thats fair enough , however the one thing that has been worse than previous years under kelseys control is the Ł5 increase and changing of entry times with hardly a mention anywhere and usual lack or staff with any form of common sense at entry points causing the massive delays, always been 6am entry right back to the 90s and changing to 7 had a hours worth of people log-jammed into the A43 causing a ripple effect with huge delays at times normally clear, some did not even get in until 11 and missed track time slots too, if your going for the trade unless you have a newer style of ford like a focus/fiesta etc you will find little there so better off at regional or specific shows, if this were a school report I can only give the remark, does ok but needs to do a lot better

That just about sums it for me Steve, I drove down on Saturday and left a 30 minute drive to the venue for the Sunday morning.
I was near the venue for ten to seven and there were miles of queues and the gates should have been opened as it was responsible for most of the chaos that followed.
The rest of our group stayed for breakfast at the hotel and left at 7:15 and didn't get in til nearly ten and said it was unorganised chaos outside with police trying to redirect traffic, there were also cameras all over the place, and in amongst all the chaos one of our lads got tugged to the side of the road for having his black and silver show plate on, the officer made him change it at the side of the road in amongst the queues.
one lad with us missed his track time as he was late in.
I dunno if it was just me but i thought there were a few less traders than last year but it still seemed very busy.

There was still too much to see in one day and the usual ground shuddering stereos setting off alarms around us and the usual popping and banging going off all day but I guess that's the future lol.

They could learn some lessons from the Goodwood Festival of Speed about organisation. Just as many if not more cars attending but so well organised with no hassle getting in or out and plenty of staff on hand.

I go to FF every now and then and stopped due to the queue I went this year with a mate who had never been and decided to camp. Camped at Whittlebury park. Only grump about camping was the odd idiot playing drum and base like a night club till midnight.

In the morning thought we would walk down a wooded track as directed by signs only for the gates to be shut, ended being an hour walk for nothing. Jumped in the car and went the back way in, 15 min que no biggie.

Because we were at the tunnel entrance we could not get through and had to walk the entire perimeter to find away in, very annoying. Anybody we asked had no clue about anything.

The que's were bad talking to people some were queuing for 4 hrs which is an absolute joke, when I last que'd I used more fuel than the journey from Chester!

Show was OK, as expected dominated by the same new cars but was a good mix parked up. On the whole it was ok. Food and drink was a joke, Ł3.50 for a little instant coffee.

A little bit of auto jumble but mainly what I call stick on bits and stickers.

I think the issues are compounded by staff having absolutely no clue about anything.

The police presence was was OTT speed camera van after camera van was a joke.

If I go again I'll camp.

Jae

thats the thing Jae camping is not for everyone but there are perks if thats you thing, and Chris can only agree the scene is changing and perhaps its no longer the venue for us, I have a focus but seeing show filled with them is just boring

I agree, we camped out of nessesity really, lucky either side were decent considerate young lads who just wanted to clean the cars up, then a dick in an Audi would come thrashing past and kick up a load of gravel and dust. Going just for the day would be better, less prep and stuff in the car but it's not worth the que's and then having to leave 3 o'clock as the traffic was backing up to get out!

One lad next to us had a new fiesta st line and he said his previous one was stolen at knife point, later in the day I overheard someone else saying the same thing about a focus RS.

The show itself was worth going but it could be so much better.

thats the thing Jae was chatting this morning with a tech at trust ford and he said their branch has had loads of same sort of car jackings, and yes every year its the same moans re ff but this year they brought it all on there self with altering entry times and poor staff, pic taken at 7.15 by a pal sat in queue showing it back onto a43 when normally at that time you breeze straight in

For a lot of people I think traffic wise, enough was enough and won't bother, if you can't get in when you arrive at the crack of dawn what's the point, gets expensive and a lot of hassle for a few hours, that's a big queue, feels sorry for those with paddle clutches must be infuriating. I also noticed the petrol station queues were crazy, probably because people used all the fuel queueing to get in.
Forgot about the pops and bangs, Rev bang, Rev bang Rev bang over and over with people looking amazed at the exhausts, personally I don't get it.

I had a good day there and stayed 'til gone 6... the queuing in the morning was an absolute joke though. Took longer to get in than it did to get there.

It was epic in them days! But to be fair an rs2000 mk2 was 5k, an escort cos 14k and an rs500 cossie was like 16k, most cosssies have been converted back to standard and parts are a nightmare to get hold of, cant help but feel that's been a big part in the change of the scene.

I think it does matter (it does to me, I know I'm only one bloke though) its variety I like, RS or not, ye to me the cossie is king but I like other stuff too, didn't go this year but did last year and came out thinking how little variety I saw, was trying to think had I seen a single XR4I, or a mk5 Cortina? I like seeing everything, not just sporting models.

Yea good to be a seller of a cossie or rs turbo now, I'd hate to be a buying now, going hold on to my cossie for along as I can as I'd hate to replace it now.

Forgot about the pops and bangs, Rev bang, Rev bang Rev bang over and over with people looking amazed at the exhausts, personally I don't get it.
It was the same at Simply Ford with a load of Focus RS cars revving the shit out of them to make them pop and bang, what does it prove? SFA to me!

What with that and the car audio setup that make your ears bleed from 100 yards away, it really does start to grate.
