Default Yet another Ka engine swap.

Hello, this is my first post here, so...Hi I guess!

So I've got an 08 Ka Studio with the 1.3 Duratec engine and I'm planning an engine swap sometime next year. The question is, what engine do I go for?

I don't want a Puma engine because I've heard some bad things about them. I have been looking at the 2.0 Zetec Blacktop, or possibly even a 1.8 Zetec. My friend came up with a really interesting idea of trying to fit a c20let engine from a Vauxhall in, and I'd love to do that but I imagine it will be A LOT of work haha.

I'm hoping to get about 150bhp and maybe even turbo it. I wouldn't say I'm an expert in this field but I do know a few things and have friends that could help me.

So then, any engine ideas that are relatively cheap and easy to fit that are also easily tunable?

Thanks in advance!

At Simply Ford at Beaulieu in April there was a guy with a Ka with Mitsubishi Lancer Evo turbo engine and running gear. He reckoned it went together fairly easily and he was not a mechanic. When its finished it will be a beast!!

Yeah I've seen the Evo one, I would love to do that but that's a lot of money haha. And I don't think insurance would like me if I done that :')

A 1.0ltr ecoboost engine would be a great little swap.

I've just heard they're not worth the hassle and that they don't fit straight in. Apparently the other Zetec engines are much better.

This probably won't be happening until next year at least so it might be a while haha. I believe one of your representatives called Jamie Bishop has been in contact with the local car groups/clubs and can offer discounts for members.

Also, is it true that my insurance would be cheaper with yourselves if I modified my car and declared the mods? I got a quote from you's when I first got insured and it was almost £3000! D:

Hi, yes Jamie does the same job as me but for Facebook groups. Being a modified and performance car specialist we are more competitive with these types of vehicles and often find them to be cheaper than their standard equivalent.

Kind Regards
Dan

Oh right I see. Damn, I wish I had modified it a bit now before I tried to get insured haha.
