I have a 05 Ford mondeo 2.0 TDCI , That has developed this pain in the neck of a glow plug/coil light flashing problem

Issue - Car is in 4th sometimes 5th i go to about 2000rpm sometimes 2500 and bang limp mode active ( The turbo just cuts out i think)

Had a snap on diagnostics machine plugged into it ERROR CODE P0251 Injection pump control A ( i think thats what it says)

I Have taken my car to several garages and each of them point to different issues HELP!!

The car has been well maintained and serviced every year since purchase from ford

Car has done 125k
DMF CHANGED

Injectors sound perfect no bad idle sound and no leakage from the top of engine .

The car has been a dream to drive since new

A Possible fix could be the vacuum actuator wastegate ?? The car is going into a reccomended garage on thursday for further investigation into possible sticky arm?

Any help please , much appreciated.

Right guys , I have my car in a garage at the moment and it is being diagnosed for £150 . So far I have found at that the ACTUATOR wether it be electrical or vacuum has no relation to fault code P0251. After speaking to Ford specialist of 35 years on the phone (Truro vospers) it could be one of only 4 things . 1- Diesel injection pump attached to engine is knackered. 2- injectors one or more are failing 3- fuel rail incuding sensor 4 - The valve on the Diesel injection pump is faulty. I will update again later on . Good luck !

Picked up car from garage injectors have been tested via leak off test all passed very easy . Turbo is fine. Diesel pump is asking for the right amount of power - however I have been advised to buy a Delphi fuel pressure regulator valve and have done so this will be fitted on Monday /Tuesday and I will update post then . Maybe just maybe we are finding a way to this dreaded fault code p0251 .

allot of these faults similar to yours are curred by the black box on the turbo think its part of the actuator. someone on ebay sells repaired ones that do the trick. im not sure if a leak down test on those injectors get to the bottom of this its more of the program that runs them. there should be plenty of info on a mondy site its a very common problem. if you live near west cornwall go to helston deisel you would only need one visit

one injector has failed had a re con fitted £125 all in and its fixed no more limp mode and lots more power

so to conclude p0251 does not mean your diesel injection pump has failed !
My advice pay to get a leak of test as soon as limp mode appears with code p0251 .
