Default Pads & discs on a Mitsubishi evo x ???

Easy enough job? Doing front and back.

Do I need to "screw" the rear caliper piston back in on this type?

Going to help a mate change his as he has been quoted 2k from Mitsubishi to donut! Haha

2k is extreme, can't imagine the back callipers needing screwed in as it will have an internal handbrake drum in the rear discs. Basic mechanical job imo, don't know why they wanted 2k unless it was the only one that came with ceramics lol

I would take a big flat screwdriver and a G clamp just in case, I have never found a caliper that I could not wind back with a bit of pressure and turn it with a big screwdriver.

This is what the Phoenix Mitsubishi quoted me for doing the brakes. Your thoughts?

Mitsubishi parts (genuine pads & discs)
Parts: £1580.96
Labour: £164.00 (£81.00 per hour)
V.A.T: £348.99
Total: £2093.95 (front pads 241.28 front discs 315.53 each, rear pads 241.28 rear discs 233.67 each)

Value Parts (non gen pads & genuine discs)
Parts: £1208.38
Labour: £164.00 (£81.00 per hour)
V.A.T: £274.48
Total: £1646.86 (front pads 69.99 front discs 315.53 each, rear pads 39.99 rear discs 233.67 each )

Its just the high cost of dealer parts and high labour with VAT added....it was the same on my Merc and ask Martin Hadland what a set of OE discs and pads would cost on his Lambo...not to mention what a set of Ceramics would be...£20k?

Mark Shead would be the man to ask and he may be able to supply them too.

When i worked for Mitsubishi the front discs were 300 pound each. You could get mickey mouse discs for 300 quid a pair.

This is why i like my fords cause parts are alot cheaper. Cossie front discs 70 quid a pair.

2 grand for discs and pads....? I'm glad ive just got a little Mercedes....ive went through 3 sets of fronts and 2 sets of rears in the 2 years ive had it !
wouldn't your usuals like ebc and brembo be a hell of a lot cheaper than dealer parts?

just had a look on ebay out of interest....£499 for a front set of brembo discs and pads.
