80's/90's performance cars you don't see anymore
I was talking with a lad at work today about the cars he used to smoke around in when he was younger, I'm only 24 so missed out on that era, but it got me thinking about things you just don't see around any more.
Think along the lines of 21 Turbos, 205/309 GTI's, 300ZX etc etc. What else can you think of? I'd love a 21 Turbo to be honest, although not ideal as a daily smoker! |
Renault 19 in gti style, good clios, 944 and 968, Toyota supra...the 205 is a given (I have 2)
24, the world is your lobster...risk everything and enjoy the ride, it will pay off and if it doesn't who cares.....I was thinking today that if I had risked everything at 23 I would have my feet up now. |
Renault 5 GT Turbos, Nova,Astra,Cavalier SRIs and GTEs and GSIs. Citroen AX GT,Metro Turbo to name but a few, there were loads and i havent mentioned the Fords.
Odd but Metro turbo must be one of the rarest survivors?
a while ago a mate and i were talking about alfasuds and the fact you never see any, saw a dog-dick red one the very next day that was mint
We had a sud, you could watch it rust
Oh yeah....think I have only ever seen one in period being driven
Best era for cars I think, wish I was old enough to of been part of it all back then.

Fiat 131 supermirafiori
Rover SD1 v8 Hillman Hunter GLS Lancia Y10 turbo |

That looks good, always liked the turbo in red. The tomcat engine fits too
309 GTI, Lotus Carlton, Citroën BX19 GTI, Rover 220 GTI Turbo, Rover 620ti. Nova SR, Gsi.
I loved the 90s, think i must have had nearly every 80s car at one point from a manta gte and beyond
Saw a saxo vts last week and realised I hadn't seen one for years.

I saw on Saturday a white 5 door MK2 Astra SR(i'm sure thats what they were called?) in Trowbridge. Today a very tidy silver 3 door Nova, Not sure on the model though. My parents have a SD1 owner near them and his gold one sits outside all year round. At work for the last 2 working days I've parked opposite a dark blue 306 GTi6
