Mk1 Sierra Windscreen Rubber Trim
Hi All, Apologies for doing a fastlife91 on everyone
I have new windscreen to be fitted on saturday but am now wondering if they will change the rubber trim.
Can someone confirm what trim is needed on the inner and outter of the screen please?
Motomobil have 2 rubbers listed for the front outter trim:
https://www.motomobil.com/3237,16344310-1.html
https://www.motomobil.com/3237,16663400-1.html
East Kent Trim Supplies show the internal rubber as:
http://www.eastkenttrimsupplies.com/...im-c2x18028093
External rubber from them: http://www.eastkenttrimsupplies.com/...im-c2x18028076
As you can see its different from the motomobil supplied trim so guessing this is a generic trim and cut to size.
Has anyone done this job before?

Depends if it's needed or not. When I used to do them I'd use the originals wherever possible as they sit and look better, but sometimes you'd find it'd been done before, maybe not fantastically, so the trims could tear coming out and need replacing. The problem with Sierra trims is there's an outer one and an inner one, as you know - the problem with that is because of the trims there's less "place" for the glue to go; when you lay the screen in the glue, which is extruded as a triangular bead, swells out. When it does this it "grabs" the two trims and holds them in place. But if too much glue has been used, or it's in the wrong place, it can grab the trim too much and cause it to tear as it comes out. You can sometimes cut the screen out leaving the inner trim on and then cut the trim and old glue off in one go, then cut the glue from the trim, but not always. I used to keep a few spare inners trims on my van, as they're the same as smiley face Transit inner trims.
