Aren't those V10 M5s supposed to be absolute money pits?

I think the problem for me is, if I had a cheap, old car that was supposed to be my daily, then a nice, more modern, high performance luxo barge in the garage, the cheap old car would never go anywhere. Just not sure I could have a lot of money tied up in a nice car that I barely used and then "slum it" (relatively speaking) every day. I'd sooner have a nicer daily and then have a genuinely fun, but perhaps not so expensive weekend toy.

I spent years driving cheap daily cars and just can't be doing with it anymore. It's the car I spend the most time in, so I want it to be a nice place to sit.

You could spend half on something like this, which will do all the usual things that you need to do: http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classifi...om=5000&page=1

And then the other half on something like this, which would give you genuine grins: http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classifi...0=TO_8&page=15

I have a 63 plate van for weekdays/work so I only want something decent , big , luxury and fast for leisure/weekend purposes because I cant fit my 2 kids in a Vauxhall combo so 2 seaters aren't any use. things like bmw 135's and 320 diesels are average run of the mill cars and not very interesting .

996 is the model designation, I.e. 993 is last of air cooled, 996 was the start of water cooled. 996 did suffer from bore issues and intermediate shaft issues which is why they are so cheap.
