Default So... bad news and good news...

So I've had my saff a good few years now and recently was gonna try and get to a rolling road for another power run (following on from one of my previous threads some people may of been following) but over the Christmas period things went south, badly!

I lost control of the car on some ice in awful road conditions and unfortunately wrote the car off.
I was gutted.

But the good news is the insurance paid out and I had an agreed value so this weekend just gone I managed to pick up a lovely condition Flint grey saff for sensible money so now the plan will be to swap all the running gear from the damaged one into the new car as well as some extra goodies along the way, hell I may even start a resto thread!!

Hi Paul, glad you were ok after that accident, could have been a lot worse. I assume you had to buy the car back? Looks quite a mess. Were you travelling quickly?

New one looks good though.

Yeah I was fine, not a mark on me, yeah bought the car back to use all the running gear as that's where all my money has been put into really.

It was just after a corner, car span 180 and I slid backwards off the side of a road along a grass verge, think it was a 40/50 mph roughly

Def, I was so worried when it was all going through, I should of upped the agreed value of the car a while back to espcially as I was still spending on it but in the end I'm not too much out of pocket so not too bad, just labour and time lost really

What insurance company ?

Honouring a policy properly and treating the owner correctly seems a rarity these days !

Turbotrev Car can be replaced, you are a very lucky man to crash it and not get injured which is the most important thing.
The one you have bought looks good, swap all the good parts from yours into it, sell the parts which you dont need and money wise you should do ok.

as others have said at least you didn't get injured and your here to tell the tail.

Good to hear you kept the old car for spares etc, should be able to get some cash back for what you don't need to put towards the new one (nice car btw)

Terrible incident Paul, bad weather and rwd is not a good mix.Glad you was ok, that's the main thing and the insurance paying out to which is great. Good news on the new car then, looks tidy Paul.Swapping everything over will keep you busy for a while.Bigger and better ey,should be fun.

I had an agreed value of 15k.
That was the value I put on the car when I got it almost 3 years ago, I should of increased it as I spent more money on it and knowing they are increasing in value but I didn't.

Bit of a schoolboy error that but with the new one I will increase that value to about 25k ish espcially as I'm gonna pump more money into the car as well.

I was quite lucky I got the new car for a fair price and once I swap all my running gear over and sell the engine and transmission from the new car I shouldn't be too far out of pocket financially

Cheers Paul

I have my Saff 2wd with an agreed value of £23k. I have spent a lot of money on it over the years and what you have to think is, if it was stolen or written off you have to find (in my case } one that is not rusty for a start. Then how much will it cost for engine mods, suspension,Bigger wheels/tyres,big brakes etc etc to bring it up to the same standard.I think it could cost all of the money I would get.
