Default Car repair - Insurance

I was involved in a fairly chunky crash last month when a range rover lost control and hit my car after hitting another head on, the damage to my car was fairly substantial but on the face of it not structural.

I'm due to collect the car from repair shortly and was wondering if I'm within my rights to request

1) Details of what's been repaired and how, ie bumper replaced or 'repaired' with filler etc
2) Details of genuine parts sourced and copy paperwork for them
3) Engineers report including alignment of chassis etc
4) Overall cost of repair - which I will need to quote to prospective insurers when renewing my policy.

I have asked the insurer for the above and been fobbed off/delayed because the car isn't ready yet, but I can tell they aren't used to being asked those questions.

I don't just want to get back in it and start driving about in a bodged up shed.

What are others experiences of getting fairly substantial damage repaired?

Hi,

i work in a body shop and your well within your rights to ask for all of them points you stated.

if there was no structural damage you wont get an engineers report as such as it wont have been on the jig but may have had a geometry if any wheels were damaged.

we get people asking for this sort of stuff all the time.

I had a car repaired before and I was given all these details without having to ask, except an engineers report as it wasn't that big of a repair.

My old chaps Discovery 3 was bumped on a roundabout back in May...
The damage was f..k all... Not his fault so gone through the insurance route!!!
New bumper and a plastic wheel arch... I priced genuine new parts up at less than Ł600... So thought alittle paint and labour wouldn't cost the earth
We requested the bodyshop due to a mate working there and previous good repairs...
Insurance come up with a total fix cost of Ł3300 with courtesy car!!!
Not our fault so wasn't gonna argue

They had it for 3 f..king weeks!!! To replace a bumper...!
1st time we went back, you could see primer through the basecoat - no good
2nd time bodyshop manager rung and said not to bother as he wasn't happy
3rd time they've rubbed through on the edges!!! We took the car away as was needed and they've said they'd put it right!!!
Since then we've been in regular contact but not had a chance to arrange leaving it there...
Tbh 3 attempts is a joke, why the f..k do they think after a 4th attempt it'll be right?

It's just getting worse as we speak... For whatever reason they've sprayed the plastics... It looks totally wrong and to top it off its all peeling off... As if they've repaired the old bumper, but charged the insurance for a replacement??? Fraud I think...
Can't wait to go back to them once the parents are back off their hols with it!!!
I would have rather I repaired it myself!!!

Back to OP... Go over it with a fine tooth comb... They all cut corners...
