Any lorry people on here??
I want to put my car dab head unit in my lorry put do I need something to drop the voltage down?? Cheers

Lorry's usualy run a 12 system for the stereo etc, check it with a meter to see what voltage the original is, if its 24v then you can get small invertors cheap enough to drop them to 12v
|
Most trucks run 24'v but have a 12'v dropper fitted to drop the voltage. You need to check the Volts at the plug. Dafs that I work in do come with 24'v radios in them a lot of the time. If you do have 24 at the plug just fitted a dropper but fit a decent one or your blow you radio

The Cummins engines they use on gas monkey garage are pretty wild 😀 extensively modified obviously

It's a 4 pot the lad that had it before me never topped the oil up and let it run until it was off the dipstick on several occasions. So now it burns oil a lot lol he also kept running the adblue dry. It's so down on power it's unbelievable
|
On the Daf with that b/e engine they hold 12 litres of oil dip stick min to max is about 1 1/2 litres. I've seen drivers needing about 9 before lol never seen it do damage. As for your ad blue system is there a warning light on? It could be in de rate and end up being very expensive
|
No warning light for the adblue but it does flash up with the oil pressure warning light sometimes and it sit at a tiny bit over 2 bar when it's warm and under load
