Is it really 20 years

This weekend is rather special.
I was out for a ‘Thrash’ with my son in my Turbocharged Peugeot 205 it was destroyed by an Audi Quattro of some sort, the Pug was a 130mph car but the Audi simply outrun us. I said to my son ‘ I need to build a fast car’. ‘ What you need is a Cossie Dad they have great tuning potential’. That was a long time ago now & this weekend marks 20 years of Cossie ownership. Back then it was used on a regular basis even doing the commute each Friday. Sadly the car & its owner are 20years older & time has taken us both well past our heyday & going out for a ‘Thrash’ with my son is a distant memory. Glad to have owned the car for all those years its left me with some great memories. The 175bhp Pug & 330bhp Cossie & my sons 2.8i back in the day before he downgraded to a M3 Evo. nice to look back on and to have shared with your son!
Still see your cossie come up on you tube all the time :) |
well done rod :top:
I would have had my moonstone 3dr cossie for 14 years if i hadnt stripped it and sold it. Have had my saph from new since 1991 except for about 3 years when i sold it but then bought it back - never gonna sell that car |

Cool Turbo 205 though Rod!
|
I'm sure your be out in it with Neil as co pilot by the end of the year rod! And I'm sure that was Brian Barrett's r5!
|
Cool that you've had it 20 years and it's still getting faster! Had my Capri 16 years just gone. The Capri is a laser in the photo not a 2.8i, sorry I'm a Capri annorak. Lol

That's correct hes standing behind me as I type that's his first Capri a 2.0 laser he replaced it with a 2.8i special must admit they were both Black & looked the same to a Capri Numpty. |
What every lad wants to hear from his dad "I need to build a fast car". Great stuff.
That capri looks real nice too. |
Good thread rod, and yes time is one thing that everyone could do with more of as you get older.
What happened to the pug? do you still have it or was it sold on? |
The cossie is all Neil would talk about he is very proud of rod and that car! Was are high light when we was younger blagging rod to go for hunt round the ring road lol. Many people in expensive so called fast cars had there day ruined

Remember destroying that R1 when I was 5 up Andy. He got to my mirrors then I let him have it, he quickly tried to slipstream. Were we really that crazy Andy, I guess so. |
Funny enough I was reading through my old ford mags lately and was reading a performance ford one today and your saph was the cover car. Bets it's changed a bit since then it was a 2005 magazine

It was a great little drivers car but followed some modified Sports cars & didn't quite have the grunt I was used to. The Cossie was only 330bhp when I bought it & also didn't satisfy my needs. I asked Mark for a 400bhp conversion & I was happy with that for over 2 years. |
surely you can still go out for the odd thrash with your son to relive the memories?

The days when he & a dozen of his mates came around for a Cossie Thrash are long gone. He will still come to Brunters if we go back but hes a Steam Engine buff not a car buff & does not even own a car. What you lads call a Thrash these days & what we did back then are poles apart. Hope Jay sees this he may just comment on 190+ runs that he has done in the car you cant do that now.
Yep you've gotta be careful doing them speeds, not as many big straight roads where I live which I why I couldn't have a big powered rwd cossie as I'd never be able to use it. |

Funny that my mate who I bought my cossie from is fixated with steam powered stuff now he has his own lathe ect, he's more into that these days and he used to love cossies.

I must be honest I've gone right into steam power over the last few years too. Maybe all
Them years of driving fast cars eventually yearning for a slower pace of life :-) |

It is only 450 bhp but is still capable of putting a smile on my face .Passed every mot and recently its 21st with no advisories. Even though its "old Fashioned technology" I still love it and cant see me wanting to get rid of it ever! |

Its strange but things that were important only 5 years ago seem not to be so now. I wish I had sold mine at 65 & not still trying to finish it at 70 ive rather more important things in my life now & I suggest respectfully you will also run out of Cossie steam. |

I think one of the first times I met you Rod ,was at Guildford cruise . I remember
you telling us some of the astronomical speeds you had reached with your son and his mate in the car on the way over ,lol . puddy :) |
Such an awesome car that Sierra.
Forgive me but I done a mot history check just out of curiosity and this made me chuckle aftermarket exhaust fitted - seems no louder than my car though |
I have old boys in there 70s coming in for mots at work with there classics and a lot of them have owned there cars for 50 years or more. That's some going!
