I thought it was Epsom downs, that original advert confirms it, some lad on bmw5 got done by a crafty scam on eBay, the scammer copied a legit businesses details, made the deal to good to be true and got tripped up, then a few other people came onto the forum saying they had also been done, scammers are one of the lowest forms of criminal, trouble is these guys put 10k down on a car they had never seen.

That's the problem. People are easily sold on a bargain.
We nearly got pulled in by a scam on a MK1 Focus RS a couple of years back. It had an email address in the advert which it said should be used as the primary contact. It also had a phone number which I initially ignored. Because I didn't get a prompt reply to the email, I actually phoned the number and got hold of the REAL seller. We soon figured out it was a scam, as the advert had a sell price of 6k, but he wanted 13k! The genuine advert had been hacked by the scammer. Eventually got a reply from the email who said the car was in Belgium, and could be shipped to me for a fee as soon as the money was paid electronicallly. I replied telling them to f**k right off. Scamming bastards!! If it looks too good to be true, it probably is! |
