Agreed mate I think as far as the old skool stuff is concerned peeps are going to start buying and modifying stuff like chevettes and mantas. Part of the fun is making something old and fun extremely rapid quite cheaply and both the base ford cars and the best bang for bucks engine (yb) are sky high now

If it's good enough for a cossie then £1000 is cheap for basically a new 205 block

£99 is a lot I'd say for it but it was bid up to £410 so I guess that's how bad somebody wanted it.
Wonder what a nos 1 would make,£1000+??

I found a couple of bits in the garage the other day, a cosworth T5 speedo drive and an MSD rad fan switch.

There is a T5 speedo drive on ebay for £125, so i might stick mine on for £100 lol.

Dunno about the rad fan switch tho, probably £10.

Also have some 3dr steering cowl plastics, no idea what if anything they are worth

Could have been I suppose. To be fair, that's not the most expensive one I've seen. Someone was selling a brand new one last year for £1500!

There's a lot of overpriced parts & cars on this forum at the minute!

So many people jumping on the eBay "price" band wagon.

What do you mean Glenn getting for many these are just second cars classed as toys and effectively doing a 1000 to 2000 miles a year so they cost to tax and insure for little use then how many people in this day and age working class have 12k let alone 50k + to buy a rs to sit about most of the year. You would need to to be very enthusiastic about them to sink your life into them . I have had offers on mine and very reluctant to sell as I would never be able to replace it at a later date with another

I agree 100% James , it is one of my pet hates the pure greed that people are showing when it comes to second hand parts now. As I have said before the only way to stop this is boycott the parts, If not one person was to bid or make an offer on some of these things for weeks and weeks you would see the prices start to fall back to sensible levels. All the time someone pays the crazy prices other sellers will think " fuck it I will advertise mine for the same amount or more, some mug will buy it " The days of fellow Ford enthusiasts trying to help each other out are long gone!!!

Wouldn't say that,I have had parts cheap or free off members of this site for my build, the guys on the s1 forum are great for passing parts around too.
Demand outstrips supply, the breakers, folk wanting engines for rwd classic fords broke so many when prices were low the cars themselves are now valuable, again demand for good cars outstrips supply so the prices have went up.
Now owners of these cars want the best parts or to keep on top of things by buying good parts when they come up so are bidding against each other for parts.
If it's an auction and the part makes mental money then fair enough,2 folk wanted it bad,if it's a buy it now and it sells then somebody needed it.
If the going rate for something is £100 you're not going to list it for £10 to help a stranger out.
Also,if you are selling certain things cheap breakers buy them then add a 1 in front of the price.

The thing is who sets the going rate, I am convinced now sellers who have parts know they are in short supply, one person had to start it with a crazy price, probably could not believe it when it sold for that and it has snowballed on since then. Prices which nobody would have paid only a year ago now seem to be " normal "
I have just given 2 new sets of amber 2wd Sapphire front indicators away. I just asked the people to donate the postage money to Charity.
They have helped 2 owners out and helped out a charity.

It will get to the point that people will stop using there old fords in case parts get pinched or the cars get damages.

We need some companys to start to remanufacture some parts like saff door moldings and window seals.
