Cant wait to watch it, Just got home from work. I hope i'm on it as they've recorded 250+hours of footage to use. They've been here all day today preparing filming and training for the program. Even one same segment they trained for it on Friday. I had to drive some of the cars they were to use for footage ready for them to film on friday too.

Nice cars but I am old school and still prefer a proper mini.
James May did make himself look a bit thick when he couldnt do up the tailgate bolts!
Second part should be a good watch.

I like the first shape that the newer minis come in but now they just look too big.
I knew a bit about how cars were built cause when i worked on Toyotas they told us all about building them on the courses.

Was a good watch, learnt a few things, good to know they spot check parts during production process and I knew about just in time, but not that it was that precise.

I was trying to say it in a not to insulting way hence "a bit thick ". I was going to say silly but that probably sounds worse. I would have thought he may have had a practice first before the live filming. You can bet he has been ribbed by his friends already! He did look very embarrassed by it.

I actually thought the Mini was the perfect car for it. A car rolling through an entire production line which is completely different from the car in front and behind I thought was incredible. A different colour, interior, wheel choice, brakes, engine etc and it all lined up, good to go in perfect order. I had no idea that was the case. I thought it was impressive.

Really enjoyed both episodes, shame the 'our' car bit never worked, it was always just out of shot, but the workers were the real stars, they just got on with it, even with James May's help!
Agree about the original Mini, need one of that size and simplicity, with the new Mini's build quality.

My sister had a Mini 1000 (1977) was a hoot to drive when she let me, but most unreliable car we ever had, rusty (wings/sills etc), engine blew up, brakes failed (master cylinder), etc, etc.
But my Mum's trusty Ford Escort Mk2 of 1978 so similar vintage, we owned for nearly 30 years, used every day for most of it, super reliable, great car, sold with heavy heart, but my Mum just deserved something modern with power steering etc.
Mini needs a cheap no frills model, they would sell bucket loads, but more money in the flashy style models, the BMW influence, they don't do cheap, sorry I meant value!

can't happen though, can it? not only do customers demand it, but the law also demands things like safety equipment (crumple zones, door bars, airbags abs, etc) and emissions control equipment (cats etc). they all have to go somewhere.
