Duratec mondeo engine into fiesta mk5
hi ppl I have a Mondeo Duratec he 2.0 car and I have a fiesta 1.25 . I want to make a fiesta 2.0 Duratec .
as I have the Mondeo I should have all the parts . I thinking that I can take the engine and gearbox out and loom out the Mondeo and put them in the fiesta . I don't mind welding so cut cut parts off the Mondeo to fit the fiesta and I'm good at making things fit and I could just put the hole Mondeo loom in . do u think this will work ? thanks for looking |
Don't know the ins and outs but know it is far from a straight forward plug and play operation. Thinking mounts, drive shafts, wiring looms etc. It is pretty involved. With the mk5 Fiesta best bet would be sell your mondeo and get hold of a MOT failure Puma for £200 and drop the 1.7 out of that in as the Puma and MK5 Fiesta share the same chassis. Add a few FRP upgrades and you'll have a rapid fez!
Not discouraging the Mondeo swap, and if you have space and time to have the cars next to each other and off the road for a while then go for it. The Puma conversion really is a weekend job and has been documented very well on the forums |
I want the Mondeo engine in there m8 its the same as st 150, I think I can make it fit lol

I would imagine using an st150 box will make it a lot easier, they are based on the ib5. I have just taken a 2.0mzr out my mazda daily, quite a light and compact engine. :)
(you'd need the st flywheel too, they are single mass as well so no dual mass issues) |
I think i'd find the wiring side of things to be the most challenging as custom shafts can be got relatively cheaply and making mounts shouldnt be too bad.
youll nned a good chunk of the loom id have thought, is the mondeo early enough to have a throttle cable or is it fly by wire? |
Using the st box should allow use of std shaft from a ib5.
