What's my Cossie worth?
It's not a for sale thread and haven't decided to sell it yet but wanted some advice on what it would be worth
It's a h reg 4x4 saph Cossie Genuine 64000 miles Only welding it ever had done was a new wing fitted Stage 3 200 block original engine Good condition Escos wheels and new tyres Uprated hoses and engine mounts Airtec 500 cooler Mint cloth rainbow interior Full history and every old mot Mongoose exhaust and poly bushed all round Prob more I've forgotten The body works not great, has various dents up the drivers side and is painted in citrine yellow and faded in places. Me and the other half been talking of late and I can't really afford to run it anymore and the upkeep on it is impossible for me at the moment so it's just sat in the garage gathering dust. Just wondering what u guys think if I decided to advertise it at some point what could I realistically ask for it? I know it would be worth a lot more in bits but don't have the time or premises to do this. Would appreciate your thoughts. Thanks chaps |

Recommend these. Please do not buy the £6 cheap ones. They are rubbish and cause terrible vibrations through steering wheel. |

I think the colour will be a put off for most as folk paying strong money want originality.
|
I was thinking that aswell mate about the colour, I'd stab a guess at 6-7k as that seems to be the average price for a usable 4x4. If it was its original colour probs quite a bit more.
Just remember they are only getting dearer so this may be the last chance you've got of owning one but like you says you don't drive it anyway so what's the point I suppose. |

If it were mine id hold on to it save for an paint job not top dollar like return to original colour clean it up you'd get closer to 10
|
4 grand in yellow
|
The ones advertised on ebay are the snotters that never seem to sell for their over inflated asking price. To fetch a premium people want low mileage, low owners original cars.
i'd hazard a guess at between 4-5k if you actually wanted to sell it, or put it on ebay where it will probably make 7k but nobody will actually turn up! |

I sell the Cossie then he'll let me have the Bmw for £1k!! Probably get bored of the Bmw within a week. It's hard to justify spending money on it, for example it really needs a new throttle body at a cost of around £150 second hand, not big money at all but considering that money would come out of our weekly bill and shopping money to fix a car I never bloody use then it's hard to justify spending it. I'm 2 months overdue the oil change as I can't justify spending £40 out of a weeks wages for the oil! It's daft really like living beyond my means. I'm just so passionate about Cossies that I know if I ever saw another one after selling it then I'd be gutted. May just leave it in the garage until a day in the future when I have some spare money and sort it out then. |
Id say 4k
|
4-5k maybe but for the cost of a little bodywork and some paint you'd get closer to 10k id have thought, got to be worth doing before you sell it

Your best bet is to sit on it. Lock it up and forget about it. If you still like cosworths if you sell it now chances are your never replace it. Save a bit here and there and go back to it in a few years

Never ever be able to afford another. Oh well something to think About ! |
Does it really cost you that much just sat there?
I've got an Impreza sat in my garage that I don't use but it doesn't cost me anything sat there. Being as it's the last of the classic shape and an STI it's gone up noticeably since I've owned it. I think you've got an opportunity to get good money back for your Cosworth in a few years. Sorn it, work on it when you can, save up for a respray and get it back to OE. Look at it as an investment, explain to the Mrs that it's better than money in the bank. She'll thank you in 10 years when you get £20k for it. |

Lol quality. The colour was originally moonstone blue, in fact the engine bay is still in moonstone blue. I've tried putting pictures on here with no luck before,
Can't access my photo bucket account for some reason |

Just tried uploading Photos and says I don't have permission. Perhaps I'll put them in my profile on here and someone can add them for me?

Like said above the prices are rising quickly so if you sell it will you ever be able to buy another one. Atleast with yours you know the car and what has been done to it.
|
The colour will put serious buyers off if you advertise it. Forget the over priced ones on eBay real ones still sell for 5 - 8 in 4x4 so a yellow one will be hard to sell unless you find someone who wants a yellow one or can paint it them self. As it will cost at least 1500 to re paint. Just sit on it and save some money

I'll have it for £5K?
|
Isn't the rainbow interior now mega rare, as, in the last couple of years of production, most cars had leather fitted? Got to be worth a few extra quid to the value!! I guess, with not having to repaint the engine bay, going back to moonstone wouldn't be quite so much work....
