Help with my mk1 Focus RS

It's bugging me really bad!

The car smokes when I accelerate up to 3k change gear and back on the throttle then a puff of blue smoke will come out it doesn't smoke on over run but sometimes very rare it will lightly smoke when stopped at lights! :wall:

From cold start it doesn't smoke at all and driving from cold there is no smoke. Even when hot steady driving is no smoke only if you pull a little hard up to 3k. On full boost it doesn't smoke and changing gears up the Rev range it doesn't smoke.

I thought it could be turbo so I sent it away and got a hybrid upgrade done to it but they said nothing was up with the turbo.

So the spec is 60,000 miles with full history. Hybrid turbo and a bluefin chip. Forge actuator and Turbo Smart re-circ valve and standard breather. Plus just serviced it with new 5w30 fully.

I've ruled out valvestem oil seals as no smoke on start up and unlikely to be rings as it doesn't do it all the time! Could it be breather related?

I hope someone has come across this and I hope it's nothing internal!

Thanks

To be fair most tuned turbo cars smoke a bit. My Cossie did and the last oil change I did I added a can of stp oil treatment (stop smoke it used to be called) and in the last couple of thousand miles (dosnt get used much) it hasn't puffed a single bit. After a run sat at traffic lights etc it would randomly chuck a big embarrassing puff out, not anymore!

check your one way valves & breather system if uur sure rings etc are ok

Disconnect and block off breather to inlet. Might be the pcv valve at the front of block. Pull it out of the baffle plate at the front right side of engine and check it

I've taken it out but how can you check it?

It seems to have a little blank inside operated on a spring. That seems to spring up ok. But it can pass air through it and feels a little loose

Plus if I blank it off the inlet would it be ok to take it out for a run?

yea thats it, blank off the hole in the throttle body and let that vent into a bottle, go for a drive and see if it still smokes and if you got oil in bottle

Always wondered what that was when I had mine. Learn something new every day.
See you have an easy adjust forge actuator. Did you buy that from Phil.

Yeah thats it mate. As said put it back together run the pipe from the breather into a bottle. And make sure you blank off the inlet manifold. Go for a run ....

Ok cool thanks mate. Will it be safe to have it disconnected from the inlet manifold and drive it up to temp to test? I just want toke sure as I don't want to do any damage.

Thanks

Yea will be fine as long as you bung the hole off on the inlet.
