I see the ignition is on before he is even in it. I thought you need to plug in to the obd port to get it going?

Looks like they did plug into it, probably knocked he wiper switch while connecting it?

Either way that's a fucking piss take and Ford should be doing something about this.

Seen this a while back when the car was nicked, literally gone in less than 60 seconds!

Was 3-4 stolen over a couple of nights

Why don't people use mechanical security on these cars?instead of relying on the ford security system

Piss take, although in some way, maybe better to have it vanish in the night that have people smashing your front door in and endangering/scaring your family for the keys.

It's a bit back to the 90's with steering locks and hidden fuel cut of switches i think.

As i have said before, i personally dont want to fuck about taking massive steering locks every time i park a car, if its a daily.

Fair enough on my old 3dr i had a removable steering wheel etc.

You would think these days manufacturers would make it a little harder to steal a car.

You dont see a ferrari, lambo, bentley owner etc whip out the old disc lock before going into waitrose...

If your happy to have you 20/30k car stolen for the sake of 10 seconds to put disklok on then then your asking for your car to be taken.

Why?
There are plenty of cars that cost more than 30k that cant be stolen in a minute.
There are 2 c63 amgs in the village, one parks on the side of the main road through, he doesnt have any additional security on it. And id rather nick one of those than a frs.

Ford should recall all cars that are so easy to steal and do something about it.

I am looking for a new focus st estate at the mo, that has the push buttone start and if i get one, no extra security will be used.
Its a daily car i want to get in and drive, not piss about putting on or removing lumps of metal

Because ford won't do jack shit about it,just like most things in life your best off sorting it yourself instead of relying on someone else.
There obviously more demand for focus rs parts than c63's,good luck keeping hold of your st i just hope you don't go throwing 20k down the street

The thing is BMW had the same problem with their cars and they recalled them all and switched of that part of the obd port. Easy job to do.
Ford are just cunts.

But ford hasn't and probably won't anything about it so clearly anything YOU can do to stop your pride and joy going walkies is a bonus,thieves rely and lazy car owners and we are only helping them out.

When you leave the house to go to work do you leave the front and back door unlocked also?
Because jewellery and playstations are quite attractive to thieves aswell.

Best things I've seen to prevent this is an OBD lock. It plugs into the port, and has a key that locks it in. If you pull it out wirhout unlocking it, it rips the port out.

Easy. Put it on once and forget about it.

It's not just Ford, it's pretty much anything with keyless entry (which I could never see the point of anyway) so BMW's, Range Rover's etc!

I can't understand why the manufacturers aren't doing anything about it though, maybe they are just too ashamed to admit it, I am pretty sure it just requires a software revision.

Trouble is its gonna cost you a window still for the thieves to find out its got a lock on it, a big disklock is a good supporting deterrent to go with it.

My e60 was taken off the drive the other night so I don't quite agree

My mistake then maybe it wasn't an all model recall but BMW do 100% have a fix for it though.

there is a fix for bmw BUT, a) you need you need to contact them and book your car in and b) they only offered this AFTER they got shamed on Watchdog, prior to that they 100% claimed there was no issue and it wasn't possbile, after the show they said yes there is a problem and a solution would be offered and was. I had my i series done at the time.

Ford aren't going to offer to spend £££££££££££££££££££ recalling cars when it will only be a tiny tiny minority that get stolen in comparrision to the numbers sold. It will need some publish shaming on national tv to get them to act.

you can buy obd extension cables so you could hide the obd port into a new location which would help. yes, your window may get broken but your car would still be there.

my car normally sits in the garage but when i go to my outlaws in bradistan i get the disklok on

thankfully mines a diesel and it clearly says so and most thieves will not bother...unless they cant frigging read!

Why should Ford have to update security on a model that is 6/7 years old just because thieves have got smarter?

Should Ford also offer free security updates to Mk1 Escorts and Sierra Cosworths?

I looked into this the last time i saw a video by a alarm fitter in bristol showing how easy it is, the fact is thieves havent got smarter though, there are people selling these OBD programmers from russia for about £30-40 shipped! So Rather than going equipped with a wedge, rock and a screw driver like for a sierra, its now a obd device and a screwdriver..

and the programmers can be used multiple times...

The fact is with the correct tools, which are readily available if you look for one these cars arent just easy to steel, its like taking candy off a baby.

At least on the sierra you had to learn how to hotwire, clear the path to the wires etc, not just tap the screen in the corner and plug in a device and drive off..

I always use a crook lock on my sierra as a visual deterrant, new car owners should as well!

If you can afford a 20k car ... You can afford some decent locks/security. There is NO excuse.

Not really, the extension lead could just be unplugged then its not different or at worst trace the lead back to the new socket

but you need to plug the reader/decoder in to the port to disable the alarm system, so if you move the port away from the blind spot the alarm should in theory go off.
or you could just take the fuse out so the port is dead.

BMW no have a security update so keys can no longer be programmed via dl16 socket unless activated

as for all other keyless entry systems easiest thing to do is cut the comunication wire from the obd port and fit a hidden switch job done .

ok, so I collect a focus st in a couple of weeks that has push start :cry:

how do I disable the obd? hammer?

not getting steering locks etc but ill do the obd thing lol

My Mondeo is keyless too but no fucker has been desperate enough to even try stealing it lol

When my Cossie got stolen (didn't get out the car park luckily) it had a disc lock on it. I found it on the floor with hardly any damage. I was confused so asked the copper. He locked it back up and showed me how they "unlock" them. Took him 5 seconds to unlock it!!!! And it was on my Cossie leather 3 spoke wheel and they damaged the steering wheel getting it off, the damage to the steering wheel cost me more to replace than any other damage on the car.

not sure on the focus but on the fiesta you can take the fuse out so there is no power to the obd port.You can also unclip the port and either tuck it up under the dash further away or buy a relocation kit and hide it where ever you wish.

is there a wiring diagram at all for the port anyone know?
I do electronics as my job, so can add switches etc into the loom if I knew what to switch lol.
or add an inline switch from the fuse etc if there is one on the focus?

its a 62 plate im buying and hasn't been stolen yet lol

No different to 80's fords they were stolen all the time just as easy as the new focus rs
